Latest changes include a longer pro chrome and some silver fade bar tape. I any one ever sees a mavic CXP10 rim up for sale, shoot me a pm, all I need to finish the bike (and maybe a nicer saddle).

ace job ollie.
I actually really like the camo saddle on this. -

Thanks, the fork is super tight in terms of clearance, only just fitting 23 mm tyres. Hopefully will have a silver front wheel soon to complete the all silver look.
for now here's a few pics of its latest guise;
Hi Olli
what bars are those please -
• #30
what size is this Ollie?
-
• #31
54st 53tt I think, are you an the lookout for something?
-
• #32
haha yeah.
-
• #33
this is so nice in the flesh! the clearances on it are beaut.
-
• #34
with clearances THAT tight, isn't there a danger of the front wheel locking up as soon as the wheel becomes slighty out of true?
-
• #35
Thanks HPx93, the current front wheel has remained true so this hasn't been a problem recently. Although I did have to file the fork crown a fair bit so that it would fit a 23C tyre without touching it every time I put weight over the front wheel.

oliver, seriously. if you ever think bout selling this, hit a brother up!
btw, to increase the clearance for peace of mind, you could put a ballbearing between the axle and the fork tips. enough metal will remain to sufficiently clamp the wheel and you increase the clearance.
was done in them early days for grasstrack to able to fit bigger tyres.. true story -
• #37
of course itld be one one each side. the metal is strong enough to withstand the pressure.
-
• #38
Ah thankyou that is a good suggestion, will have to give it a try. No way I'm selling atm, but you never know, you have first dibs if I do!

-
• #42
i wouldve laced them to my da 7710s which i have, just because i have.
campag on da is a bit heresy though.. low flange campag... hnnnnnggg.. -
• #43
miche too. Inexpensive at 25 quid a piece.
-
• #44
Low flange record would be lovely, but thinking I will go the route of phils because they are sealed and practical while being something a little bit flash
-
• #45
Low flange Phils are just so damn nice, rock solid, look great, roll great, and the bearings just seem to be a different quality to everyone elses, mine are absolutely filthy and have been so for the past few months, all weather commuting, probably done 2000-3000 miles on them and they feel the same as the day I got them.

Did you get this bike off gumtree with a load of Suntour track kit? I think it was in ebay/craiglists finds a while ago... Looked beaut man.
-
• #47
I think I'm sold on the phils, better get saving.
Unfortunately I did not get this with a load of suntour kit and I bought it through the forum, although it did used to be kitted out with full record pista -

imo low profile rim on front would be better.. and you can't lose a link of the chain?
good work anyway
-
• #50
oh, and being picky, shouldnt the chainring be rotated one arm clockwise? so that the only partially machined part of the chainring falls behing the crankarm?
does that make any sense?
Recently got hold of a kagero frame and building it up as my fast bike with drops, hence I didn't feel the need for two bikes with the same handle bar setups. Just thought I'd try something new really, may well put bullhorns on it in the near future
