So how much and how long does it take to get accreditation at Manchester?
The Manchester induction takes four sessions http://www.nationalcyclingcentre.com/track/ride-the-track/
As these sessions are spaced out during the week the only way to seemingly make it viable would be to make a group booking for Saturday night and request an induction program.
If people are up for it I would be happy to look into it..

Track bikes must have a fixed wheel, 165mm cranks, and 280mm (11") bottom bracket height (measured from floor to centre of bottom bracket), no braze ons, and must have track ends. Coaches must advise riders to check their own bikes before taking to the track, including: tyres, chain tension, wheel nuts. If a "fixie" bike is used, that matches the measurements above, and has braze ons or cast cable or gear stops, they must be padded with foam and taped over with insulating tape
Use Continental, Schwalbe, Tufo or Vittoria clinchers or tubulars (black tread only), 21 mm or wider. Tyres must be inflated to 8 bar (119psi), and the pressures, and tyre condition checked regularly. Do not use Michelin tyres or any dual compound tyres or tyres with coloured treads. Other tyres and tubulars may in future be recommended after analysis. Do not use tub tape to fix tubulars to sprint rims – use proprietary rim cement.
- Do not use brand new tyres on the track without first preparing them thus; rub the surface with alcohol or white vinegar or other degreaser before use. Ride the first three laps on the Cote d’Azure or bottom of track.
- No spare sprocket on double rear hub.
- Bar ends must be fitted, and secure in handlebars.
- No quick release spindles. Wheel spindles should not extend beyond the track nuts, front and rear, and should be sawn off flush with the nut, and filed smooth.
- Recommended gears for novices, and all riders on taster sessions - 84" gear adults, 74" for 9 -12 year olds.
- The gearing on Velodrome hire bikes range from 72.6" (44 x 15) to 83.9" (50 x 16).
- Gearing for all endurance SQT’s, including Madison and Derny, shall be restricted to a maximum of 88". It does not apply to Sprint or Sprint/Keirin SQT’s. However, youth accredited riders should ride a gear as per the relevant Youth category gearing in BC Technical Regulations.
Wow, these rules are a bit much. A maximum of 88gi as well? I currently run 88gi for track training and 94gi for racing (on an outdoor 45degree track in NZ). Filing off all wheel spindles when they arnt sharp anyway. Also, I would have though getting peddal strike on an indoor wodden track is pretty hard seeing as you would need to go that much faster just to stay on the track (you can go arround my concrete 45dregee track at about 12kph).

Pretty damn sure that these are not race restrictions. Besides, and more importantly, 88gi equivalent to about 7 metres of development is more than plenty for both novice fixed gear riders and experienced riders negotiating the track for the first time.

88gi is fine for novice or first time track riders. BUT, are those restrictions just for first timers?
-
• #1557
^ those restrictions are for the sessions run by the NCC to my knowledge. They might be lifted for the SQT sessions... I'll ask Bob when I see him and update, or someone could call the NCC to check.

I looked at interest in this thread: http://www.lfgss.com/thread102830.html#post3590682 (scroll up a bit) but there was next to none.
Fwiw I'm L2 track qualified recently so could offer to help with coaching the noddy bits, would need one of the NCC regular coaches to run any induction if they'd put one on for a group, but in terms of extra pair of hands/eyes I would be happy to help the forum out if I could & folks thought it useful and reduce possible costs.

RHB might be able to help out, I think he works BMX track and I'm sure he knows velodrome people.
reading thread backwards, yup happy to help discussions abiut a session as above, will have outline answer for the discussion later I hope.

Quicker than expected just seen Bob so asked.
tl;dr = no
Longer:
It's a 4 step assessment taking 6-8 hrs, a group can work through it together but only via sessions of upto 2hrs at a time.
Add to that Sat nights are in high demand, so you may have long wait to get booking availability.
This would therefore take as long as the London 4 sessions, with multiple travel costs added on.
If there's questions arising please can one person let me know (I don't want to get swamped!) and I'll put you in touch with Bob.

p.s. it seemed unnecessary to raise the query about the gear restriction as a result btw

Has this been resolved yet?

Dam so coming up from London for a one day/ weekend intense session is off?
Thanks for looking in to this and good to know that if things change there's some one on the inside happy to help us out!

They have Dolan hire bikes at Manchester. They used to have Look Delta pedals but do shoe hire as well.
London will be Look Keo.
Newport also has Dolan hire bikes with ***only ***Look Keo.
First time on the boards yesterday (private session of 10 of us) at Newport velodrome. Thoroughly enjoyable despite the >3hr drive each way. I was very glad I spent the £12 to get some Look Keo cleats.
I really can't wait for the slimmest chance to get on the Stratford boards.

Bump! What's the situation on this then?
-
• #1568
Have they got back to you on the jersey Velocio?
-
• #1569
They got back and said that the grey needed to be much lighter... less close to black.
Worked on another design, but unsure at the moment on that.
Needs to be much higher on the distinctiveness... and my attempts at being somewhat subtle aren't really helping that. May just flip the other direction and make it really distinctive.
On duller news: LFGSS CC as a company is formed, registered with HRMC, and the CASC forms are being prepped.
But I do need to get a jersey proposal sorted that is high enough on the distinctiveness ranks.
My current thought on that is either black with a great big f'ing white star on it (a bit Captain America meets Hardcore Music), or to ditch black and go for a coloured jersey.

please, no stars.

Jus sayin'
-
• #1572
can you not have a jersey that meets the reqs, but not print any
and then print the jersey that we actually want?
do you 'have' to wear your clubs jersey at anything we'd likely be entering
-
• #1573
I did have a chat about that with Milltag.
To produce a "race" jersey for those actually racing, and work on that one being distinctive enough to not resemble all the other teams.
And then to produce another jersey for club rides, recreation, pub, etc.
Rather than try to make the race jersey work in social situations.
