  • I'm up for the daytrip to Manchester for cheaper inductions.

  • Or Calshot.

Calshot inductions are really well priced, and it's half the distance of a visit to Manchester.

  • I may be up for racing when im good enough...

  • I was wondering about this - I have a full CRB check for work and it'd be so much easier if it could be transferred elsewhere. Ho hum.

Just because they trust you not to steal dinosaurs...

  • Nah, come to Manchester.

  • Calshot in January. That'll separate the wheat from the chaff.

  • ^Where you'll get your hubcaps nicked.....................

...........As opposed to Stratford, where they'll nick your entire car.

It's because sometimes they screen for additional things/won't screen for something if it's not relevant for your job

  • The mother in law lives in Fareham, so this could work for both me and LH.

  • Bike Polo is ridic

  • I doubt that Calshot induction would count for London. Very different skills required to ride each. I also suspect that London will require all but elite riders to do their own induction at £50 or so a pop. Manchester and Newport are unlikely to be transferable.

I would also suggest that it would be foolhardy to think that you could do an induction in the morning and then a track day in the afternoon.

I have ridden Newport ManchestEr and Calshott, however, but never done an induction at any. In each case I have been on a private coaching session with a group, club or independent coaches.

  • Hmm, you know any of this Clive, or just speculating?

I was going on what I've been advised so far by people in the know, but if you can cite any sources that says otherwise I won't propose Manchester or Calshot.

  • I looked for that info a while ago. From the Lee ValleyVelopark website http://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/en/content/cms/london2012/velo-park/#pricesummary

"Accomplished track cyclists who are already accredited at Glasgow, Manchester or Newport velodromes do not require accreditation for using Lee Valley VeloPark’s velodrome. New cyclists will have to go through a four stage accreditation which costs £90 (£67 concession price). This includes bike hire and coaching."

  • Many moons ago while working my way up the ranks so to speak I participated in racing across Europe and United States. Not once after obtaining my initial race licence did I have to go through any sort of induction to race at different circuits. Needless to say some rules and regulations may have change since then, but I would find it very odd, pure speculation on my part of course, if someone qualified to race at say Manchester or Milan for that matter, couldn't race at Stratford.

  • Let me know when you're all coming up, it's only 4 miles from my house.

    Manchester it is then!

  • So how much and how long does it take to get accreditation at Manchester?

  • So how much and how long does it take to get accreditation at Manchester?

It would need to be less than nothing to make it worth travelling to Manchester.

  • "It would need to be less than nothing to make it worth travelling to Manchester."

    Don't forget the after-party at snotty's...

  • Not a specific attack on the town*, but the cost of getting there from London.

    Although that was a bonus

  • Book early on a train ticket and you can get here in 2 hours for £12.50

  • So if you don't need to hire a bike then is the cost reduced from £90

  • No filth on the track pls - so everyone will need a new chain, tyres and generally clean-up on all parts (especially whole drivetrain).
