I've decided to keep the bike, here's how it look so far. Of course, many tweaks are going to be made (the cockpit is going to change shortly) here and there, but this is how it stands at the moment, un built. It will properly be build shortly. The wheels were built by Arup Sen, a really nice guy and i couldn't recommend him enough.
I can only apologise for the absolutely shit photographs, i'll be the first to admit i have no idea how to take pictures of a bike properly, although some better ones will be taken when the bike's finished.

Looking good.
That paint is so sweet!

What?

its a rather ugly solution to a fairly simple problem.
-
• #157
Well, I don't want to drill a hole in it, and it was half price so also an impulse buy. Plus, I'm sure at some point I'll be riding brake less, then I can take it off.

if you must.

Is this actually strong enough? Looks more like a mudgaurd hanger.
-
• #160
pretty sure his clearance would be too tight for one of those ^^
-
• #161
I'll double check the clearances. It's not the ugliest thing in the world, and it's only temporary.

almost looks like you've created some sort of steampunk contraption. good on you though for not drilling the fork.

if you must.
If it's made from alu, I'll declare a hella no to that.

It's probably the best NJS tack-on brake setup I've seen. Looks relatively solid and safe too.

Does anyone make them in steel?

I read on a couple of Japanese blogs that those Taiwan made ones flex a lot when you use them (and then eventually snap), supposedly the really expensive original Japanese ones are ok but yeah...

Someone made one for a bike that my girlfriend brought a while ago made out of steel, which is definitely a better choice of material, heavy but very thick.
Have to use a rear brake due to the shorter bolt thought.

It's finished. Cockpit will be changed, but for now, it's finished. Huge thank you to everyone at micycle, although an even bigger thankyou to Luke Slywalker who pretty much did it all, couldn't have done it without you. And thanks to everyone on this thread who's given me advice and helped me out.
When i can, i'll take better pictures.

tbh im not a great fan of the double lever. silver stem and some njs engraved* SRAM s500 levers would be the tits imo.
*this is actually not true

extra handposition etc. etc.

Tyres will be changed at some point, as will cockpit. Going for a pearl 9/8 and nitto rb002 bullhorns. Maybe some compact Nitto drops later on, but then a shorter stem would be needed. Plus road levels might be a bit too modern for the build.

This doesn't make sense ;) with some compact bars your reach will be shorter so you can use a longer stem.
-
• #174
^this, I switch between compact drops and rb002s and I have a 2cm longer stem for the drops
-
• #175
yes, but having hoods would lengthen the reach surely?
I'd be interested in the wheels for my build:

Oh, and the front brake adapter.
Would need it shipped to the Netherlands, though.
