  • This week we've been painting candy. First frame goes metallic silver and then we spray tinted lacquer. The finish is very rich and very deep.

  • Gorgeous: straight to paint prawn.

  • I like that a lot, how durable is it?

  • Literally no difference to a normal frame, it's just the colour in the lacquer that changes things.

  • ∆ ∆ I guess the only thing is that when it chips you'll see silver underneath. But then most base coats are a different colour any way.

  • that candy red is outrageous, looks like a hot rod!

  • Something out the booth..

  • James, are you going to answer my PM or email about a candy apple respray?

  • Hi Colin, just looked through my LFGSS emails and my NQ one and I can't find an email from yourself on either?

  • Shurely shome mishtake! Please PM me your number so I can give you a bell...

  • That red is superb!

  • We've been really busy lately, take a look what we've been up to:

  • Another one finished!

This was originally a rather garish white and red. Stripped down to the carbon, sprayed with carbon specific primer and painted black. We then lacquered in gloss black before adding the stencils and finishing with a matte black.

We've been developing our own bicycle wax and it holds up really well on any paint finish, the final picture is how it'll react when you ride in the rain!

  • Will you be retailing the wax?

  • What I'd really like to offer is a overly anal bicycle detailing kit but I need to gauge interest before we put together a plan.

  • Well I have this bookmarked and have short-listed some of the stuff you recommend, but haven't put it into practice yet.

However I'll have a customer's frame back from Cromaworks soon (you were on the short-list too, but the frame needed some work and they share a workshop with Field) and I'd like to give that the works...

  • Ah, thanks for bookmarking that!

Probably slightly strange but I'm really passionate about keeping bikes clean and general bike maintenance. Possibly thinking of structuring a thread where I can answer questions, show what I'm up to.

  • can you submit more than one bike/frame?

  • how are you picking the winner?

  • It's up to £750 worth of paint, we'll paint absolutely anything with that budget in mind, 1 bike or 2.

When the giveaway date has finished, I'm going to put the number of Likes in a random number generator, whichever number comes up we'll see who posted it.

  • Hetchins now stripped! We used a very fine bead to blast this frame, here's the result.
Due to how light the blasting is, we sometimes have to do a little extra by hand. The owner of this frame wanted to keep the head-badge on (the rivets are only original once!) so we carefully masked the badge up, the surrounding area will be sanded by hand before primer.

  • That's the way. Can't wait to see this one painted. Looks like you're doing a fine job with your business. When you're referring to the royal 'we', do you mean 'you' or does someone else do the stripping and painting?!?

Edit just seen it's you and Craig

  • Betriebsgeheimnis.

  • Something in the workshop today, now flat and ready for lacquer!
