We're in the process of shooting a video, we need a battered old road frame to powder-coat. We're going to be acid-dipping and powder-coating it.
Not too bothered about the original colour, so long as it's a fairly high spec frame with horrible paint. You can have it powder-coated any colour you wish for £40 (that price includes us sending it back to you)

Can it be a track frame? And how battered does it need to be?
-
• #104
I snapped our powder-coat process the other day!
(notice the frame still has all the stamping on the drop-outs? We use a very fine grit for media blasting, fantastic for keeping detail)
We've since changed the way we cover BBs to something a little better
Pre-oven
The oven is on a continuous cycle
Finished!
Please excuse some rather strange points of focus, my camera wasn't calibrated properly on the day.

James,
Can you do rechroming? Specifically a chrome fork that is not pitted but the chrome is very tired.
-
• #106
I don't (yet) I'm afraid. We've used a 3rd party before for chroming with bad results. With chroming single parts you get exactly what you pay for, cheap chrome just chips and has a poor finish, the only real way to get durable chrome is to write a blank cheque.
For this reason I don't make any recommendations for chroming, but it's certainly something we're looking into for the future!

If you can find a place that's held in high regard by classic car enthusiasts/restorers then you're laughing. Bastards won't accept anything less than perfection. Won't be cheap though.

^^^ there was someone in CP who chromed loads of bits and pieces on his project, chromed sugino 75's for example, can't remember where or who but it wasn't too long ago so with a bit of searching you should be able to find it

Thanks James and interesting comments on the quality of chroming.
I assume the Mercian and Bob Jackson chroming services are fit for purpose. Just need to decide if its worth the money!

Teaser of something in the workshop..
We've been working really hard over the last few months in conjunction with independent retailers around the UK which will make custom paint more accessible for everyone. Watch this space!

How much would a full carbon paintjob cost?
Not dissimilar to Henry's cannondale
-
• #115
Price depends on the type of masking you're after, amount of colours, finish, material etc. It's impossible to give a flat rate to charge as each job is different.
You're looking at £300+ once you start having multiple colours with detailed lines.

We're proud to announce we are now stocking vintage frames and components.
Our stock is growing and we're (slowly!) but surely adding to the website. We've got NOS campagnolo parts, cinelli frames (road and track) plus some beautiful British steel.
My personal favourite is this beautiful Concorde (purely for the colours!)

Hi James,
Are you happy stripping and painting carbon?

we we can strip and paint carbon. We use carbon specific lacquers plus have years of experience working with carbon, no problem at all.

Hi james1234, I saw on the site you have a pair of gran compe sf's laced to tb14s. Can you get the high flange versions and build those to the same rim?

Lovely Mercian now in stock!
We've also got a great stock of raw road and track frames we're about to list on the site. You buy the frame and we paint it (any colour or design you like!)
Also check out this candy powder-coat with a hint of sparkle... available from next week.

Hey man, Whenever I try to access your website recently AVG blocks it and says it could be susceptible to Heartbleed. Not sure if its my PC or a general thing. Just thought i'd let you know.
