A hairdryer works wonders on loctite.

Scherrit doesn't have any hair left and as if I'd own a hairdryer. :P
222, 242, 271 and 290 are all:
"apply localized heat to nut or bolt to approximately 482°F (250°C). Disassemble while hot."I wonder if Rotor specified the wrong loctite for their lockring.
I can't recall if the manual specifies 222 or 243. I'm going to try something stronger next time anyway.

Last time I saw her, Mal had hair.

For some reason she tends not to want to join in when TBW and I work on bikes. I don't know why, I'm sure it must be riveting watching us.
Anyway, more people have kettles than hair dryers and hot water worked.

No probs. I'll probably still have it in 5 years time when someone else is looking...

Hey guys. Skimmed through the thread but I wondered if anyone knew about a replacement for the Rotor track BB, or a spacer that I could use between the non-drive side crank, and the BB?

"Please note: The Rotor 3D24 Track 144 BCD crank is only compatible with the also available Rotor BB Track Steel Bottom Bracket Cups!" - bike24

Derp - sorry.

• #261
Can I run Rotor 3DF cranks on a Specialized OSBB bottom bracket?
-
• #262
Maybe.
-
• #263
I will read that as "yes, with enough force and swearing, anything is possible".
-
• #264
It definitely works but I wouldn't try it yourself. Get one of he midgets with delicate fingers to install it for you.
You need the spacer kit from Wheels MFG because the Specialized BB is silly narrow.

Sounds like a PITA. I've just fitted a lower range cassette so will probably leave the cranks alone.
-
• #266
Rotor is a PITA
-
• #267
True, but they're a cheap option for using my P2M. I've got a couple of sets of S-Works cranks and a DA set but it's twice the price to add power to them.

It’s for this numpty ^
The lockrings are loctited in place so you'd probably have found it easier after pouring hot water on it (or some other form of mild heating to break the loctite bond).
