don't know if you resolved the issue yet (i've seen that you asked in another thread but can't remember which one) so here's an article - the last picture has the number hanger bolt in it. seems like regular allen to me..

OK, I ordered both the 25mm and the 30mm dropout adjuster screws. 25mm ones fit perfectly. What should I find when I come to fit the second one on the non drive side - Yes, a broken off one! What are my options here? Drill it out? Meh
Also installed the headset today. Appears to be a gap of a mm or two between the washer and the locknut. The gap all but disappears when the rubber ring in locknut is removed. Options here? Remove the ring, spacer or trim the steerer tube slightly?

Headset .. Personally I'd trim the fork slightly using a file. If you try to saw then the blades going to be on the edge of the tube when you take into account the material lost by a saw blade width .. which is going to be a tricky cut. The rubber is there to make a seal to the stem, which you'll loose if you remove it and potentially you could get ingress into the steerer tube. Other alternative is a 5mm small 1inch silver spacer under the top nut?
Rear drop out screw .. Bad news. Saturate in plus gas or similar to try and make sure it's free then if your lucky, using an undersized drill as you start drilling the screw threads out on the drill so you don't have to actually drill it completely. That's the only option I know .. and I don't like doing it!

Will give this a go.

I feared this was the only option. The screws are really narrow already. Going to have to do it on a day when my hands are super steady!

So, now that my Hobbs of Barbican is finished, It's time to finish this!
Have decided on Carbon Record groupset and Crabon deep-dish wheels.
I've been emailing back and forth with Kyle at Farsports and have ordered a set of their new 50mm*23mm 3k matte rims. Just going to get their rims sent and will have them built up with 20 & 24H Hope Pro 3's.
Progress! Now to save for the groupset! -

Cheers man!
I really like it. Hopefully it will turn out OK. After being a slave to finding 65 year old period parts with my last build, I decided there was no way my sanity would handle going down the period build route with this.
In other news, I've ordered 20/24H black Hope Pro 3's. They're the new ones and both Hope and Strada Wheels who I ordered them through have confirmed they're Campag 11 speed compatible.
Without jinxing it, it also appears that I've been lucky enough to escape customs charges on my rims according to this mornings parcelforce update. Now on to the forums preferred wheelbuilders thread.

What's the weight limit on those rims/hubs?
-
• #64
Not sure. I'm sub 70kg anyway so I very much doubt it would be an issue for me. Will ask Farsports in case anyone else is interested.

I've contacted Arup from this very forum about building the wheels up.
I want Black brass nipples and black Sapim cx ray spokes.
Hopefully in a week or 2, they'll be finished!Tyres: Was thinking of Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX unless anyone has other suggestions.

Best Colnago I ever saw
That's lovely however I don't think I'd ever be locking this one up anywhere!

Nonsense, there are very strong Shimano ties to Colnago.
Exactly. See another example here:
Shimano logo on the chainstay is under the lacquer, as it was originally built up with full Dura Ace.

Is that yours Apollo?
Amazing paint.Dropping the rims and hubs off to Arup this afternoon to be measured for spoke length.

I dropped the rims and hubs off with Arup on Sunday.
He's measured them up for spoke length and I ordered some black Sapim cx ray spokes to be sent directly to him. I was in two minds with regards to spending the extra cash on the cx rays but after seeing some that Arup had, decided nothing else would do.
Front is to be laced radial with a spoke length of 252mm. Rear to be laced 2-cross with 262mm spokes on the non-drive side and 260mm spokes on the drive side. Black 12mm brass nipples.
Arup is going to take some pictures during the lacing for the thread! Maximum excitement! -

This should be sweet. Similar to my recent build, i got some reynolds attack's for mine. You'll love the ride, just don't go out in the wet with the carbon rims, it's slightly suicidal !! Saying that, i still commute on mine.
Mine's at 8.2kg's and i've got 105 so dependent on groupset you should be able to get lower than that (if weight is your thing). There's some NOS carbon seatposts around on the web that would look pretty sweet with the rims.
You going carbon on bars etc as well ?
-
• #75
Hi AJ,
Pretty sure I'll go for a new campag record or Thompson seatpost. Not sure about bars yet. Need to do some reaserch.
Groupset will be new 11spd Record but need to save some of my hard earned cash first.
Will have a look on eaby for the NOS Colnago posts too.
Just ordered the tyres. Vittoria Open Corsa CX.
i saw a '96 master frame on Wednesday with art decor, but had been front ended with a bulge under tt by ht which made the the tt and ht drop a couple of degrees, not apparent on photos, a complete write orf, if one colour or two, poss repair/refirb, but due to colour scheme complexity you could never replicate it properly, a shame
was red and looked like the 30th anniversary edition
here's the lost cause,
I viewed on the strength of the last two images, and with the bottom, there is no real positive indication
of a bulge near head tube
