  • prices are creeping up on them

  • looking for a C40 HP but needs to be v large. top tube 59+

You won't regret getting a c40 hp ... Fantastic ride

& this build is coming on nicely .... Nice to see something different & those record bits will look fantastic

  • the frame is beautiful; personally i think the deep rims detract from the frame - my personal opinion deep section carbon doesnt look right on such a beautiful frame

    Hello,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, agreed, it is a lovely frame.
I didn't fancy being a slave to another period build after recently finishing my 1947 Hobbs of Barbican and old campag stuff seems so overpriced!
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fussy bastard and love period restorations as much as the next man and wouldn't rule out doing this sometime in the future with this frame (just not now!)
I've always fancied some medium depth carbon wheels an decided this would probably look good with them on however appreciate that this is subjective.
I'm going to build up some 'normal' wheels more suited to hill climbing as I'm riding the Marmotte this coming July.
Does the frame deserve better? Maybe but maybe you'll change your mind when it all comes together with the lovely carbon groupset :)

^^i disagree, I think it looks great, it's nice to see someone doing something different.

    Thanks man.

    Thanks,
    I hope so!

Why Record? and not Chorus? There's only approx 120g weight difference .. but a crudely £300 price difference.

Errr, I could make up some bollocks but really, It comes down to liking the aesthetic of Record better. This will be my Sunday best after all but you can guarantee one thing, I'll ride the shit out of it!

  • I haven't forgotten about this build however it still is moving at snails pace as I have just upgraded my Trek to Ultegra 6700 which took up lots of funds. Here are my new NOS 3T Ergo Power bars.
They're annodised a very dark grey, 42cm wide and have a nice rounded profile and a relatively shallow drop.

  • Like this very much, thus far you've done almost exactly what I'd do if I had the same or similar frame. Tyre fitment on those wheels looks ace, too

Where did you source those bars from?

  • Got mine from Planet X.

  • looking to be an epic build! this bike really needs compact drops IMO, the flat transition is really worth it..

Thanks. I found them on ebay from the states. Wish I'd known about the NOS Planet X supplies! Live and learn and all that!
