I've ordered replacement forks, bb and have the wheels - will order some tan well tyres as well.
I'll be running the cranks ss, so will probably replace the chainring and install a bashguard
Buying some Tektro levers off Spotter and Cake is going to help me with the brake situation.
I decided to basically push this ahead a month because I wanted to get out and do a few rides before Muddy hell.
I will be getting a Syntace stem, black levers and cx9's over time but just wanted to get going.

Sounds good, which fork have you bought?
I'm definitely going to do a sscx bike for this winter, thanks for the inspiration.

That's sensible. If you can, I'd recommend getting a couple of races in before Muddy Hell as doing your first race in the dark can be a bit daunting. As Clive can testify.

Yup - slow progress. Backyard painting is more fun, that Armourtexing it. Plus I get to neon it.

As soon as everything gets here, I should be able to put it together. Fork and BB should be here this week - but I leave for holiday, next week, so it should be done by last week of the month. Does that leave room for a race or two first weeks of October?

Also, advice on gearing for ss-cx ?

^Buy my natureboy
I would love to if it wasn't too big. I have tried to find a nature boy in my size, but it seems there are none left in the UK.

Picked up a bb from Howard last night.
I pretty much have everything, bar a chain now. But will probably not have time to get it all together from a couple of weeks (off on hols) -

Not going to get any further with this build till I get back from Holiday.
Armourtex couldn't do this paintjob. Did it over 6 days and cost about 30 quid. Pretty pleased, as I'm usually horrid at this sort of thing!
I'm going to clean the bottom headset cup when I put the bike together

Looks sexy. My pro paint tips mean it will look better than Armourtex could ever do.

Looks good J! Are you gonna put decals back on it? Givuza'go.

are these tips freely avialable?

Yes, but I was joking. I am not a pro painter, my experience stems from when I sprayed a BMX frame nearly 10 years ago and it held up to 2 years of me sending it down ledges and rails.

How many did you use? Im looking to do the same but with pink to red fade to orange fade in all fluoro.
Also did you do a clear lacquer finish too?Sorry for all the questions but this colourway has got me too excited to start the new project.

Little bit of progress has been made, pleased with this wheelset, it's nothing fancy but I know it will be reliable and work.
Will be fitting the bottom bracket and cranks at lunch - will post a pic then or tomorrow

As far as the painting goes, it's by no means a flawless job - painting outside over a week, has some obvious drawbacks - but I'm happy with it,
I wouldn't use the Montana paint if I were you. It was cheap - cost me a score to do the whole frame in primer and neon yellow. I found exactly the same colour choices as the Montana range in a car shop on Holloway road, it might not be any better but I would think it will be. There is about 9-10 coats of paint and 4 coats of lacquer. This took me 7 days. 2 days to prime, 4 days to do the main colour and then a day to lacquer - I have since left it for 2 weeks to harden (i.e went on holiday).
If I were doing it again, I'd buy a handle (Spotter told me to, I ignored) sand more fully to start/during the primer, wear a mask the whole time, fully dis-assemble and not mask and place the paint cans in hot water (Ive read this the paint application).
On the look out for a Syntace stem now.

it wont be, MTN 94 is pretty good for painting frames to be honest.
