Guardian is trolling right? For sure the relief worker in question is.

This.

I thought that was a spare pair of trolleys you were carrying around for a second there.
-
• #335
Pants? Yeah, it is. Rains like fuck t'up North.
Wet pants in exams is really grim as I found out in chemistry last week. Hence spares.
-
• #336
Pants as in knickers. Looked like boxers.
-
• #337
Yeah, spare boxers. Sodden underwear is properly grim.

every day ?

At college most days, rains so frequently that they just sort of kip in the front pocket of my bag with deodorant in case of rain.
-
• #340
Dont you need spare 'trousers' in case of rain too? It seems like replacing one without the other is a mug's game.
I got one of these http://www.witindustries.nl/products/foldable-bike-fender and it has been perfect. It flat packs and just stays in my bag or jersey pocket. It takes 1 minute to stick it on the bike in case of rain. 100% mud trail free since I got it (in Berlin no less).

• #341
These for me. Pack down small. Bone dry underneath.
I think I paid about 8 quid for them on amazon

It's not totally dry just changing boxers, but a little dryer than before. Usually got mudguards on so not been needed recently, also useful for hot weather and sweat problems.
Been tempted by some waterproof shorts though, might order some if they're that cheap.

As soon as the purchase of our new house comes through I will be a half hours walk to work as opposed to my current 4 mile bike commute, so naturally I'm going to start walking instead. So I'm going to need to find a walking friendly messenger bag. These Chrome messengers are brilliant draped over your back when you are hunched over on a bike but for walking they are shite.
-
• #345
get the bigxtop daysack. quite nice, not a messenger bag.
-
• #346
I did actually want to get one of those for on the bike. For walking around ideally I wanted a shoulder bag of some sort.
-
• #347
Ortalib Messenger bag, not an actual messenger bag but says it is
-
• #348
^ the bigxtop - yeah it's a nice casual rucksack. It'll last forever too. It's small, which might not be a bad thing depending on what you need to carry.
A friend has the Ortleib bag. He said there was a massive design flaw in it but I can't remember what it is, I guess it's not that bad.
I would still use a pack liner/rubble sack to wrap up my laptop in really bad weather, despite both being advertised as waterproof.

No side opening. It's a total, fist sized pain in the ass trying to use the Ortleib without them. Looking for stuff requires camping somewhere and emptying everyone out. Threw you lights in there with other stuff? Good luck!
Sold it after a week. Got a Sag instead. Side zips, and a laptop/tech neoprene liner inside the already waterproof bag. Great stuff. Also not made for walking. That style bag are a bastard to walk in when packed.

Got one of the Bigxtop bags for my girlfriend, she's pretty happy with it and I've definitely been impressed with the design, she's fine with walking in it as well as riding.
