Part II...
Some years ago I managed to break the chainstay on this about 100km into the Bryan Chapman audax. I got lucky and managed to find a Welsh garage open that MIG welded it for me and amazingly I even managed to finish the ride.
I then continued to ride it for some time beyond that, until Matt built me a more audax oriented and fashionable frame. My broken frame then had an extended holiday at the bottom of the repair pile in the Talbot workshop, before moving to Mitcham to do the same in Isen's workshop.
Until a couple of years ago when I extracted it and took it to Vaz to get the paint shotblasted off. It then had another rest until later last year when it re-emerged with a new stainless rear end. Following another short break of 6 months or so it finally gained paint. After this it got delayed a bit more by a global pandemic + discovering the old wheels weren't compatible with the second hand di2 group I'd bought.
Until now...

TL;DR I got the bike fixed and repainted and some unnecessarily fancy parts put on it, here are some pictures:

p.s.
Tyres and saddle are from the parts bin and will probably get replaced when I've got over the horrific amount I've spent on it.
I haven't actually had a chance to ride it properly yet as have had a bad cold, but it seems great from my quick ride over to Crystal Palace and back.
The stuff about delays isn't meant to sound accusatory - Matt is a friend and him building me an extra frame was what pushed this one a long way down the list of priorities (along with me having another child).
Thames water ruined my original plan to photograph it exactly the same as the original build.

Whats wrong with Veloflex?
Blue/purple flip paint is most excellent.DA9000 cranks would look ace on this, with the stainless chainstays and the silver finishing kit.

I totally forgot about what happened on the BCM. Wild story. Glad it's back on the road. Seat stays look super, as does the 1 1/8th headtube!

Yes, da 9000 cranks would be great and might go on the ebay search list somewhere down the line. Particularly as I lazily put the middleburn ones through the dishwasher to get the grime off which hasn't done anything for their appearance.

Beautiful bike. Excellent story too. Reminds me of the story from a TDF where the guy broke his forks, walked to a local blacksmith and welded his forks back together.

That was a great read.
The all time classic audax broken frame story is of course this one:

Slight improvement in weather means I've been riding this again. Now has DA crankset and better tyres (road tubeless working for me so far) and is hopefully not needing any further bits changed, aside maybe from saddle.
Should have taken saddlebag off for the photo really.
Still slightly embarrassed to have such a flashy bike, but is at least making me put in the effort while riding it.
