Cops were fairly ok, it was the fucking security bully boy who was looking for an escalation. Anyway, if J wants to talk about it it's his call.

He borrowed my helmet for the race, apparently his penguin head wasn't deemed to offer sufficient protection by the race commissars. I hoped to say hi after but missed him and he gave it back to my Mrs.

Awesome day, Nice to meet some of you guys and I enjoyed totally having my arse handed to me in the race! 85" brakeless lightless dash to the station to catch the last train home was pretty fun too. ;)

Hey dude, thanks so much! I should have known really, but they didn't mention it in the registration. Great fun. Riding my beater was a mistake. I was boiling too.
Classic night as always, great turnout too.

I was somewhat distracted in the Ladies Elite by trying to get a decent photo of the amazing Helen Wyman - the womens European Cyclocross Champion and seven times national champ. Disappointed she didn't get a shout-out at the beginning of the race but she did get a few mentions as things progressed.

Went to Nocturne, having great time.

Sat kid up on a wall behind a fence so she could see the penny-spin.
Went to the toilet and came back Kris was up on the wall too, so I joined them.

One of the warm bodies that they employ to fill out hi viz jackets told me to get down "because there was a fence".

I refused, he got cops.

Cops came and left as I wasn't trespassing or causing a public order offence.

Way later, end-level-boss of the fence guards comes along and says the same thing as his minion.

I refused and he got more cops.

Cops came in force, including one with a special hat who I assume was their chief.

They said to get down and I refused.

They said I would be done for Child Endangerment if I didn't come down.
They said they would pull us down(off the wall and over a fence - endangering my child) if I didn't come down.

So we came down because they couldn't be reasoned with.

A cop pulled one open and one unopened bottle out of Kris's hands and threw them to the floor causing them to smash.
The cop said this was "because he was worried" (Kris) "would use them as weapons".

Essentially they bullied a peaceful family enjoying some cycle racing.

nice pics all, thanks. every year I go I always intend to take some and my camera stays firmly in my pocket all night. I imagine the cops were just a bit panicky because of the massive drop into the car park behind the wall. I think I said this last year too but they really need some more bins around the place, I had nowhere to put my rubbish.

Was a nice day. Great to meet BN, O'Shane, and Shoosh. Sorry to everybody who was there that I didn't speak to or only talked to very briefly - there was so much going on that I felt quite bewildered by it all (in a good way).
