  • Good idea Jess. Want me to do it?

  • There's already a FB event for it - https://www.facebook.com/events/314672898635650/

It's got a list of all the rides that are happening at the bottom of the post!

  • Good spot Bothers, did you steal those eagle eyes from the owls?!

  • No, I've just got a really creepy memory for things that people post on the internet and remembered that the FB event was linked to from somewhere at some point in the past. It's a horrible curse, tbh. What I'd give to have a pensieve like Dumbledore to put it all in :(

  • Hey ladies! I'm on hols until the 30th so if anyone Not On Here shows up via Facebook or Rapha be nice innit.

  • We're always lovely! ;-)

  • Indeed, evidence in Exhibit A:

Oh, I meant one for our specific ride so it doesn't get lost in the Rapha ether. But doesn't really matter!

  • Almost certainly out for this, unless I make the sort of recovery Lazarus would be proud of. Might come and meet you at the beach anyway.

  • Do come meet us at the beach, I'm sure that's when the real fun will begin anyway (food & booze).

  • Hey - I wanna get a practice ride in this weekend - where's a good 50 - 60km in/ near London? Cheers

  • ^ Southend? Only 40 miles and super flat.

  • Just to make sure (not so much for myself, but for the others I'm trying to convince to come on the ride), the distance is about 60 miles? The route posted on the first page lists 93 miles, but it's got a loop in it which I assume we wouldn't be doing?

(not actually recommending this to any sane person)

But I am keen for this! Can I sign up me and a friend from my running club?

Long-time lurker-non-poster but cafewanda and missmouse know me in RL... can I please pencil myself in on the no. 6 slot for this?

ETA: Is Greenwich still the start? At what time?

  • sad to miss this, the route to Herne Bay is lovely. The beach is good too and the seaside chips shop is fantastic! If you want to extend it there is a seaside paved path over to Margate. I think some local kids showed us it last time. (2 years ago - My how time flies!)

I'm still in Toronto with little k but will be up for shorter rides when we're back in a couple weeks. Don't think I can do a full day ride yet, as I'd have to stop every couple hours to pump!

Cafewanda no need to worry, from memory there is just Shooters Hill on the way out of town, the rest is pretty flat.

  • Hi ms.chris, glad to see you waves.

Empowered by my cycling hols in Normandy, Shooters Hill you are mine*.

*this may contain traces of untruth

  • Ooo scorchio weather forecast ! Im bringing my cosy for the sea...

    ETA for meeting etc ?
I will be coming from kingston.

  • Was i supposed to be training for this ? Fb page is quoting ' tapering'.
Im just hoping the thought of chips will get me there.

  • I think Poots is still on holiday so may say otherwise but 10am in Greenwich seems to be the order of the day.

Training, if you mean practicing eating chips and ice cream, is encouraged, but no other training is necessary. It's a fun day out in the sun.

Speaking of which, (/engagemummode) please please please can everyone take water and sunblock along. The forecast looks great but these things might make the difference between a fab day and a miserable slog. /disengagemummode

  • packs jacobs cream crackers and sunflower oil instead

What you gonna do about it, eh

  • I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll attach a trailer to your blingy new bike and you can pull me to Herne Bay. How about that!
