Rough profile of modified route...

Oh dear. I was very much looking forward to the climbing.
-

Yeah there's only about 1800m worth there. Pansies.
Interesting analysis on Cyclismas on climbing speeds-seems Sky haven't been putting the train into full use, either because Brad wasn't up to it or... ?
Either way they're a long way from the pace they were setting at the TdF last year where they genuinely put all their rivals in major difficulty.

All this route alteration stuff is a right load of bullshit. Was really looking forward to a mega climbing weekend. Just stick em on MTBs and give them some lobster claw gloves, they'll be fine

I wonder if the Strava comp will be updated with these new routes ...

Depends on a variety of things, but as such 1800m isn't all that much. For example, I remember this stage very well:

weather looks griiiiim

FFS it's easy to sit on a sofa complaining about why a stage has been shortened. It's not about the climbing.. Think about it...
Descending sestriere would be suicidal, I have only ever done that once in a blizzard in June and it wasn't race conditions..
Fucking hardest thing i have ever done. Just be grateful that the race organisers kept a mountain top finish. -

There may be no TV pics at all today :(

There may be no TV pics at all today :(
That's ok. We can listen to the commentary!
-
• #1362
Al, I'm sure everyone above is just flapping their gums, just shooting the shit till the coverage starts
-
• #1364
All I wanted to do today was watch this, what bullshit!
-
• #1365
not missing much, Eurosport is showing highlights due to lack of footage
-
• #1366
Can't get ze choppas in the air to relay the camera bike signals to the satellite trucks

do we know why ? ( the lack of footage )
-
• #1368
It's not just the helicopters, the plane that relays the signal from them is grounded too.
-
• #1369
pfft well that sucks, already been out on the bike this morning and I have literally nothing to do today
better put some pop punk on and do some turbo maybe
-
• #1370
Where's the fecking TV coverage!?
I've got my bottle of leffe, a bag of popcorn, my cowbell and my feet up, so I can sort myself out. All Eurosport have to do is get some helicopters n'stuff.
This has ruined my day. Possibly even my week.

It's pushing me precariously close to doing work...
-
• #1372
Don't raise your hopes for Galiber tommorow ...
-
• #1373
I've washed my bike, degreased and relubed the chain, serviced the headset and fitted some new Swissstop pads. Auto Glym engine cleaner is so much cheaper than bike products. Anyone else got a cool story bro?
-
• #1374
Conditions getting worse at the finish now too.
-
• #1375
Ive changed my mind on the turbo and I'm eating cake in bed instead.
Looks like rain again today.
I'd be interested to see if Sky tries to set a ferocious pace for Uran and grind away the opposition, or will he attack? With tomorrow's stage effectively neutralised, I reckon today will see some super aggressive racing, rain or no rain.
I'm going for blistering pace on the Sestriere and fireworks on Bardonecchia. I really hope Evans goes on the attack!
