  • Oh, I didn't realise you knew the rider and what their body is like. I also didn't realise that you were a bike fitter nowadays...?

No, never claimed to be. My bikes fit fine anyway.

The guy bought a custom frame and then added those things to it, wouldn't you just work that into the design?

I knew if I were going custom I'd get a bike that I didn't have to mess with setup that much to get it comfy.

  • As far as the bars being too low in relation to the seat post, that wasn't what the frame was designed to do, the customer is a roady by trade, and wants something to take everything he wants to carry, but would normally do up to 100 miles per day, so having the ability to get into a (ever so) slightly more aggressive position than on a more traditional tourer was deemed to be beneficial, although, to be fair it is not really that controversial a design, and I am far from the first person to do it.

My comment re: road racer position was @ Indra who was implying that the bars were too high. Looks totally functional/normal for a tourer to me.

  • longer head tube, which was the extended, then the customer added spacer and a + deg stem...

I wonder if they've considered simply stretching.

I wonder if you've considered talking less bollocks?

  • I wonder if you've considered just putting me on ignore if that's what you think.

  • My comment re: road racer position was @ Indra who was implying that the bars were too high. Looks totally functional/normal for a tourer to me.

Not too high just that he could have go a frame that just positioned them higher.

  • I wonder if you've considered just putting me on ignore if that's what you think.

I've never had to put anyone on ignore here.

  • Not too high just that he could have go a frame that just positioned them higher.

You would absolutely do that on a custom road frame (for aesthetics as much as anything) but as coldharbour has explained, on a loaded tourer it helps to have the top tube low when you're swinging your leg over it (on top of the stiffness benefits). The spacers aren't a problem functionally, just aesthetically.

  • ... and as far as touring goes, that puny stack is a relative slamdatstem.

  • I have taken the criticism onboard, and have ammended the frame accordingly:

  • I see pixels

  • Perfect haha

  • Lol. Proper craft that is...

  • So how much is an 853 frame now?

  • £1200 painted and prepped, with bike fit.

  • Is that including a carbon fork?

  • No, but it does include painting of any forks that are to go with the build.

  • That tourer is so lovely.

  • that colour is so loveeeely

  • Won't go with the owners preferred green cycling top though.

  • Who is it for?

  • Howard. I believe.

  • I see Talbot you have changed the graphic design on your decals, def an improvement.
