  • Also, I see catfish is a flat earther now?!?
    🤦🏽‍♂️

  • a magnetic one

    Zipp

I'm fairly certain that BSD freecoaster is the long rumoured G-Sport freecoaster design being that BSD now fall under Full Factory umbrella now.

  • I know nothing about ICP other than Adam22 did an interview (that I didn't watch) Am I uncultured?

  • The answer to your prayers -

  • Wholesome. I feel blessed.

  • I think he still "works" for Odyssey.

I remember seeing an interview with him where the deal was he sold the rights to G Sport to Odyssey, but he was retained as a freelance engineer/designer who got "royalties" on all parts he designed. So if he designs something that sells well, eg Twombolt/Thunderbolt, G Sport rims, then he makes decent money.

I believe anything that Odyssey, G Sport, Sunday, BSD, and Fairdale do that appears to be "innovative" in any way is his handiwork.

  • I'm an absolute G Sport/George French fanboy so that deal made me really happy to see him get to design and engineer loads of parts that he would never have been able to do just sitting in his G Sport unit doing everything himself.

The Sunday frames with wave top and downtubes and hollow dropouts, he's on record as saying he'd wanted to do that for nearly 10 years but was never able to. Suddenly he's got the budget and time to be able to design every part that he'd sketched and toyed about with in his head.

  • Wish I'd never dipped my nose into the bmx thread. 10 days of isolation and all I wanna do is go ride 😫

  • Also, anyone got something cheap kicking around? I'm feeling a BMX again to ride to the park with my son and ride with him to and from nursery. I might even learn to ride a bowl since I live right next to Clissold Park.

  • Wasn't such a fan of those Sunday frames. Is there a strength advantage to the tubing?

Man I want to get into bmx product design and manufacturing.

  • The wave meant that the tube was much more resistant to denting, so it could be made thinner, and thus was lighter. Dents cause a weak/stress point in the tube, so manufacturers use tubing that's thicker so that if it does get dented, then it's more resistant to creasing/folding/bending. Otherwise, with a BMX, you could dent a frame and write it off first time you take it out.

  • Yeah tbh, I was surprised when I managed to crack a frame (seatstay though) never had that on any other frames.
Current bike is battered and still going strong(The Make)

  • I keep looking at this since I've got an 853 Dialled hardtail too, but I'm thinking of spending even less than that, which I think might be a bit difficult.

  • I was a bit surprised it didn't go at that price but I guess you could get a lighter race setup for less or a stronger freestyle bike with the right parts already on it.
This does fit 'dad getting back into bmx' category though, I thought.

It's been on there a while, just lowball them haha, I'm sure everyone else is

  • I used to ride with the guy who started The Make in Liverpool, I can't remember his name now.

  • Yeah, absolutely fits that category.

Tbh I just want to do manuals and hop up curbs.

  • 'dad getting back into bmx'

    Sounds like someone I know

  • I believe anything that Odyssey, G Sport, Sunday, BSD, and Fairdale do that appears to be "innovative" in any way is his handiwork.

Yeah I'm pretty certain this is the case- I'm 100% he did the Elementary stem, Wombolt cranks, that chain link stem, JCPC ... plus those mentioned frames.

I wonder if the Twisted PC are quite as grippy as I remember?

  • I really regret ever selling my BMX. Wish I could buy that back and do it up a bit.

  • Elementary stem

    Scary little things those

  • Hey, I never left my baby!

  • Same. I’m looking at the stop-gap Mafia Kush in the garden, thinking “you’re just not my chrome GT”.

  • I loved mine, I don't know why everyone had such a problem with them.

I followed the instructions and mine never slipped once. Rails, big drops, pump track, dirt jumps, all the nonsense, never slipped.
