ddmap
We're going through Yoxford this year then ? The 2012 map I found on ridewithgps shows a detour to the North using Willow Marsh Lane to bypass it.

that said, i will probably hug randoms the whole way
What's new?

Oh, and Soul's map misses out the little diversion to the feed at Sible Hedingham. Where it shows you to turn left from Church Street into Rectory Road (effectively follow a sweeping bend), you carry straight on along Church Street to later turn left into Alexandra Road, and then left into Parkfields. We might put someone on that corner to direct people.

Or just a sign, Oliver?

Blimey, I can only read my posts, not hear them.

The signs get nicked every year.

Signs are replaceable, what if the person gets nicked?

Please do if you can, I nearly* missed it last year
*Missed the right turning, noticed lots of people rejoining from the right, so went to see what I'd missed, and found food! Glorious Food.

Re #510 Due to babylon / police cuts there are so few officers about in Essex and Suffolk the chances of getting nicked are minimal...

I've always missed the food stop. It's a tradition.

I also like to get a bit lost at the end each year.

One of my favourite parts of the ride is finding a new detour in the Yoxford area, seeing all the bunny rabbits.

I never said it was this years route :-D
My map was for the 2011 route as I couldn't do it last year. As for the food stop, I never put it on my GPS because it keeps me awake trying to remember where it is!

It depends on whether the people who live on that corner would be OK with it, as there'd be a lot of chatting outside their house. We're waiting to hear back. It would basically be pretty loud through the whole night.

The 2011 route had the feed in the same place. I didn't mean to say that the feed was on the route; only the village hall at Great Waldingfield was. You could just as easily consider the route to continue along Rectory Road.

You never know, you might hit a pothole while shaving.

There are no really steep descents on the Dunwich Dynamo. The main fast descent is the one towards Sudbury, which will feel uncomfortable brakeless, especially if you have to skid-stop for the traffic signal at the bottom (yeah, right). There's a brief moderately steep descent towards Sible Hedingham (shortly before the feed) which in the dark can surprise you, and a couple of other descents en route, but as I say, none that are really steep.
While the rolling hills towards the end can feel pretty leg-sapping after 100 miles, there is only one sketchy bit here:
https://maps.google.com/?ll=52.285258,1.482403&spn=0.003216,0.006899&t=m&z=17
It doesn't look like a problem on StreetView, but it can often be covered in all sorts of crap. I know plenty of people who've done it brakeless without issues, but if in doubt walk the short bit to the bottom.
Anyway, doing the DD brakeless is obviously not a good idea, but who ever rode brakeless because it was a good idea? You'll enjoy the ride more with brakes. Obviously. :)
Perfect answer, thanks Oliver!

Interesting technique Soul! Some people set random alarms on their phones too.New route sheets are issued in London Fields, on the night. Of course you don't have to follow it. You don't have to do anything you don't want to.
Take Oliver's advice Indra and you''ll
not end up in A&Ehave a great ride :) -

If the route I'm following isn't exactly the official one it doesn't directly effect me, but what if someone who's trying to navigate by the route sheet follows me off piste and then falls behind ? They could end up in Peterborough at 4am, I would hate to be responsible for that.

Why would anyone go to Peterborough!?

Well, you wouldn't be.
That reminds me of the beginning of 'The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul' by Douglas Adams.
that said, i will probably struggle the whole way
