Thanks everyone for a grand day out, lovely to see old faces and meet new faces! Turns out we got far more than we bargained for, with not just owls and birds of prey but cheetahs, tortoises, huskies, a camel and a very long tongued lizard.
Thanks especially to Katy for backstopping on the way out and Sam for doing it on the way back. I'm very sorry for my appalling navigation and wrong turns aplenty!
Everyone did amazingly, I was so surprised that it was the furthest some people had ridden as you were all so ace. And we had truly African weather too (or so reckon the eagle heights staff...)
Best owl moment: the barn owl in the flying display! I've never had an owl fly so close to my face before (and I say that in the best possible way)
Worst owl moment: that guy throwing a dead chick into my face
Top owl dresser: Mrs Socks and her wonderful owl socks, owl jumper and owl keyring! What an owl fan!
Prize for culinary excellence: slowest pub food EVER... what a fiasco, it's a veggie wrap, how can it take over an hour?!Much love xx

Here's the eagle that fucking hated every one of us and kept trying to fly at us to claw our eyes out.

Eek - so sorry. I tried to hold the door for as long as possible, till the scary lady told me off. Thought you'd make it. Thanks for guiding me into Orpington - feel terrible for doing one like that.
Ha, no worries! I wasn't in a rush, gave me a chance to fill my bottle up.
Thanks for the fun times ladies. Must make it regular!

Thanks for an awesome day ladies (and gent). I am fully converted to group cycling, hopefully the first of many. Let me know if there are any other rides happening, especially now the sun in shining! Great photos Ed.

Also, whoever said something about stretching after the ride was a far wiser person than me.

The Herne Bay ride?

Anyone fancy another before that? I'm obsessed with night rides atm but also have some routes to try out from the 'Lost Lanes' book.

I'm thinking of doing a re-run of the Only Way is Essex (And Herts) ride before Herne Bay if people are interested, now the weather is a bit better....well, at least less likely to snow whilst we're out!
^^ nawww, I thought maybe the reptiles that were brought out were touchable.
