• how's the clearance with the 53?

  • .... and an alloy pump....ideas on how to track those down? time is running out.....

If you can handle the french stripes, I'll post you my AFA first class tomorrow! I think I've got a chrome peg/clamp thing in case it's too short for the pegs.
It's the one attached to this bike

  • I'm not on the run... It's another thing on my bucket list though. Mine is smaller and pewter.... That one looks like you'll get a load of beagles chasing you down! I'll pop a picture up later when I'm at the fire station..... I use it as a locker noise.... It's a long story!
I've also got a really old REG sort of portable track pump.... Doesn't work, but looks the nuts!
I wouldn't want to post either of those though, so you might have to have a trip up to the cave!

  • it is totally fine Ed . i could have gone for the 56T, but think that would have been over kill.

i purchased a TA chainset from Vince (another great forum member) as a back up. stedlocks chaqin ring arrived today, so the TA will go on my King of Mercia the TA. has a 50T ring on it, so will swap it over if it turns out i'm a wimp.....

  • sending you a pm now Rik.

  • This is looking lovely, really like the cranks. Horn would be too silly. This build is crying out for a chromed, silver seatpost!

  • well, maybe a cave visit is due......

  • the campag mech lever screw would not fit in the boss, so have to use one off a sachs lever.

little bit of progress....due to hunting through boxes of bits to find the screw for the lever....

  • it is totally fine Ed . i could have gone for the 56T, but think that would have been over kill.

It would be overkill, will send it to you soon as I loved to see it on your bike.

thanks, i think the chainset makes it.....

i just gave my only chrome 27.2 to my friend for his tweed run build.... i quite like the black. i don't want it to look too smart.....

I hate when that happens... I nearly cried once... That and too short steerers... Arghhhh!!

On the Witcomb, I had a nice old steel campag headset, perfect for the build, but had to stick with a non-period shimano one as it was low enough...

Oh and f***ing 2 pegs freewheel blocks...

And all these handle bars diameter that nearly fit...

OK, I'll stop, parts you hate thread>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Still, arghhh

I don't mind the black seatpost either, it kind of make sense...

  • I

That has just happened to me! ahhhh! I am going to cannibalize my track bike. Will replace the bars at a later date. so annoying! but on the plus side, i now have red tape on the bars.....

ha ha, me too Ed! would be great. would love to hit top speed on that. are you on the run?

    who is on the run?

  • 27.2, you say?
I've got a lovely, very unusual, swan neck gallows seatpin in black... That could probably be polished silver..... I'm a twat, I'm getting right into your build, thinking of all the bits to help put it together!! I also collect old bells..... I've got some beauts for that ;0)

  • ha ha stedlocks, it only seems fitting that you are looking out for this build, it has your name after all..... the gallows seatpin sounds splendid......

  • a little bit more progress. had to do a few boring things: chop down mudguard bolts, tighten BB, take bars off other bike.... going to re-grease the wheels, chain and cable this beast up.... doubt i am going to use the front rack for this one, seems out of place. next steps may have to be later tonight, real life duties call.

  • quickly knocked up a bracket to put the dynamo in the correct place. need to get correct bolts, but it works.

  • any ideas on what to use to pin the wires to the forks? very thin black cable ties? black electrical tape?

  • Chainring arms should be equal either side of crank. Only one position on 5-pin fixing will give this. I will check it out on Saturday - Chief Constable S P

  • wiring up my dynamo. best route, suggestions? i want it to look as clean as possible.

The only other technique I'm familiar with is tacking it to the frame with drops of superglue - subtle, but a bit risky on the paint finish

  • Is it on the opposite fork blade to the light?

I'd say under the mudguard and stick it in with a blob of glue that's easy enough to pull off like glue-gun glue?

  • have a look at Veaslius' George Longstaff build for dynamo routing.. he's done it well

  • Yes second that ^
