  • Awesome!

  • Yeah I thought the seat cutout looked out?

  • real nice. cant help but think that the seattube cutout looks off? ive noticed this on ty's aswell.... maybe just the camera angle/lighting

i have ridden tom15xw's and they really are great frames. extremely stiff for steel, but still very comfortable

It's pretty much the same as this...

  • agreed, still beautiful. awesome size too haha

  • Thanks for the (generally) positive feedback, guys. There's a few elements to still tinker with, but based on a few quick rides around London today I love this thing.

Final components list has changed a little, and its currently as follows:

    • Cinelli Mash bullhorns
    • Thomson X4 120mm stem
    • Dia Compe headset (I think!)
    • Thomson layback seatpost
    • Fizik Arione VS saddle
    • Rotor cranks/chainring/BB
    • MKS Sylvan pedals w/horizontal Restraps
    • Standard black Izumi chain
    • SL42/Formation Face rims, laced to Halo track hubs

    Currently rolling 48/17. It's nice.

  • You keeping brakelessness installed?

  • Guessing the seat tube cut only works for smaller size frames?

  • You keeping brakelessness installed?

For around town at least, yeah. Might pop one on for longer rides. Still learning teh skidz, but quickest way to learn, and all that.

  • Guessing the seat tube cut only works for smaller size frames?

Why, a seat tube is a seat tube...

  • Maybe the ST is a slightly more aggressive angle on the smaller ones so it fits better? i have no idea though.

Love the bike, looks like it is so ride-able

  • I'm interested if it's just the photo angle, want to see a photo from level side on, with the wheel slammed to show if the cutout does follow the wheel innit, only way to settle this discussion.

  • Larger bikes tend to have steeper ST and HT's but I've played around in bike cad and my cutout on a 64CM frame was perfect, no reason you couldn't get that in real life.

I'm sure this cutout is perfect, wheel just not slammed and photo angle a little off.

  • ^^ That was my logic.

I mean, you would assume* the 'prototype' to be around a 56 with a proportional cut?

    • You + me ?
  • Why haz bmx pedals :-(

  • Why haz bmx pedals :-(

    A. He doesn't.

    B. Why not?

    C. Just because you couldn't hack the steez.

  • My bad. Why haz restraps :-(

    #sacrilegioustruthIMO

  • You didn't

  • You've got to get used to them, takes a little while, you didn't really give them a chance. Restraps and decent pedals are fucking mega, I'm just on the lookout for some new pedals to attach mine to.

To be honest, the cutout isn't 100% aligned to the wheel - there's maybe a 2mm shift from the top to the bottom. The picture does seem to accentuate it a bit. If I was really concerned about it I would have had a word with Andy before we wrapped the build. I wasn't. The thing goes some, and is great fun to ride (based purely on an excitement-fuelled day's riding, granted), so I'm pretty ok with that.

Obviously I need to get to know the bike a bit better, and certainly delivery took longer than I'd have liked, but so far, I'm a very happy man.

  • Hope to see it in the steel one evening this week!

  • And Restraps? Yeah, I love them. I need to get used to the Sylvans, but I've used horizontals for two years now, and no complaints at all. Get them fitted right and they're boss.

Sadly out of town on Thursday. Might go for a spin on Weds though...

  • sick! my size too :D

  • Can't wait for spring.

In other news, the seat tube got a ding after getting blown over in the wind, and I see what appears to be a very fine line of rust (see below, and excuse the dirt from my morning's ride).

    ADVICE PLZ!
