  • As opposed to getting shot, which is pretty much guaranteed if you head south of the river.

  • ^^ & ^ Both quite amusing.

    For a North London PONCE.

  • are we talking deluxes yet? looks out of window

    BenJam (again...)

are most people geared or fixed? tempted to try out my geared bike for this?

  • Will be riding fixed. Did the falling leaves ride fixed. This is easier.

  • Tempted by this - familiar territory from falling leaves and general pootling in yesteryear, gradients seem to range between -11.5% down Sundridge Hill Lane and 9.8% up Bayleys Hill (which I've never been up).

If I ride this, I might use gears, partly to limit the time that other have to spend waiting politely at the top of the hills. Will need to check other commitments.

Yes, I've done the ride of the falling leaves on 42x16 but I was 5kg lighter and much fitter back then.

got any deluxe weather on the horizon?

    I could sure use some.

  • Oh, and theoretically on for this but will wait till Monday arvo/tuesday morn to make sure I can walk.

  • Aspirationally there for my south-of-the-river TNRC début, :-)

  • Okay, I survived my first TNRC badger attack. I’m up for this. Will anyone be riding out? I have ridden out & back to all TNRCs I’ve attended so far. It’s sort of a shame to take the train – but then this is south side and I’m also playing 8 a side football on Monday, this may moisten my sheets a little, but I hope not.

Chris, if you make it, I will have a beer w/ your name on it. How are you feeling?

  • I'm in agony, not been able to sleep for more than half an hour at a time. Constant pain and lack of sleep.

It's the lack of sleep and pain that makes me repeat myself sometimes.

On the plus side it feels like connective tissue not bone floating around in my rib cage and I do get to pop it back in place every so often. This is grossing out my work colleagues but after each pop there is a strange sense of relief.

Did I mention the pain and sleep thing?

Ibruprofen + whisky + htfu is getting me through the pain and insomnia though so you won't hear me banging on about pain, sleep or lack thereof. No sir, not in my condition.

    tl;dr?
    hurts a bit
    trouble sleeping

Certainly a case for gear (not gears) on the NHS if there ever was one?

  • What is this NHS you speak of? Can you get it on Bupa?

  • ibuprofen + whisky = no htfu required...

  • That's a relief because I'm a soft lightweight who gives in to pain too easily and lets it disturb his sleep.

Not sure if I've mentioned this already.

  • You did, I think your memory must be going, it's probably due to a lack of sleep.

  • :')

  • Anyone mind a complete stranger taking part, work allowing? Looks like a nice ride.
