  • another question about tomorrow's test ride: what will the pace be like - lightening fast or gentle spinning?

but most importantly, might i suggest that you pop by Store Street on the way to Euston and get yourself a couple of these each - in bottle form - for the train journey home, to celebrate the innovative testing, :-)

  • I wish Adnams would do a mild. Fuck all this golden beer. I’m not Tony Hadley.

The pace, were this ride to happen, would be steady, either at generic TNRC pace but with less stopping, or a little faster depending on personnel. All of that is relative to the terrain of course, and also takes my 69.6” gear into consideration. The amount of climbing is more akin to the Kent rides than the Essex ones. Some of the shallow descents are lengthy enough to be ‘noticable’ on fixed.

There isn’t any off-road, but after a night of torrential rain, the lanes at the foot of various slopes had been transformed into what looked like dried up river beds.

I’d hope to get round in ~2h30, including stops. I did it in 2h11 on Sunday, including stops, but they only amounted to a minute or so to check if deflated riders needed any assistance. I wasn’t anywhere near the rivet.

  • Relatively swift ride sounds good to me

  • Come on howrad we need 3 for a groupsave!

  • I’m happy to De La Soul it, if we don’t get 4. Works out around £8.50 each.

  • Yeh me too

  • TNRC Tues 6/8: Hemel Hemstead Reprise - Piches and Hoes
**HH start. Train out from Euston 19:04 **
    Return : 22:25/37/53, 23:47.

A new bmmf production - tried and tested 39 miles, some draggy climbs, rolling lanes etc. First time out for this one, so It'll be a follow the leader (bmmf) type affair. There's an option towards the end to cut a few miles off if we are running late for the trains.

  • ^’Pitches'

  • as in ‘slopes'

  • Come on, who wants to be #3 and/or #4 for a reccy tonight?

  • I do but I'm eating Persian (and would be left for dead by the personnel involved).

  • Suffering from lack of sleep as it is, but still considering this instead of derny training tonight...

    I'll decide after lunch.

  • I don't have a fixed road bike at present and have done nothing other than three turbo sessions since I dislocated my shoulder six weeks ago, but I am also tempted.

  • I think it's going to be relatively sedate. It's fucking hot. Might break out the 2 litre Camelbak again. I'd only be doing enough to keep the medium gear ticking over.

I'll call this around 3pm. Bear in mind I'd probably be needing to sort out the GS around 6.30pm for the intended train, just in case queues are mental.

  • GS4, no more, no less.

I’m happy to De La Soul it, if we don’t get 4. Works out around £8.50 each.

What have you been listening to recently?

  • Cliff Richardssssss.

  • Silly question. Of course you have.

  • there's one for tonight's reccy^ especially if there is a high puncture risk
