In a sense every day is my birthday, because I'm born anew each morning (rather than 'born again' which sounds too happy and too clappy). At least my wife gets some variety.

I went out in Essex last night and it was lovely. Sorry. The route had plenty of lanes, but wasn't a route that was so dependent on crap not being washed onto the road, so you probably made the right call.

You can't have a dozen people or so and their respective +1s waiting around all day for a yes or no. It's only a fucking bike ride. Anyway, the forecast for HH & Tring was for more intermittent rain during the evening, unlike London/Essex.

I had a mind-blowing night in.

Yeah I think it was the right call too. And my night in was also awesome. I ran a 5k at lunch to take the edge and it was hard and it hurt and I was tired afterwards. Meaning: I wasn't stir-crazy when I got home and my wife and I had a lovely evening.

Sure some of the tnrc routes featured in 'Dogging Tales' on Ch 4 last night... not mind-blowing or awesome, but entertaining nonetheless.
Had a nice spin in Richmond Park, so the early call may have been over cautious - but it's an unfamiliar and longish route, so sketchy lanes/punctures etc could well have ended with a long train wait or a ride home. Can't make a Thurs recce, will put the route up again for next Tues.
