  • yea doesn't look bad either! How much beer can it hold?

  • Like!

I built up a Croix de Fer last year and it's been my daily rider ever since. I love the damned thing. I think mine is a 2010 (bought second hand also). It's a little ratty which I like, but I'd be tempted to treat it to powder coat at some point.

  • Good thing about the black frame is that a carbon fork wouldn't look out of place.

Nice choice, I'm selling my Genesis CdF for a road bicycle since I'll have two similar bicycle once my 650b audax is finished.

    Enough to get me tipsy

I have wondered about carbon forks for this, but I think I should at least try it with the orignal ones first.

  • Do that, if the fork is 725, it would definitely be better than my 520 fork.

  • Also does anyone even make a carbon disc fork with rack and mudguard mounts?

  • The Kinesis Crosslight has mudguard mounts, is that enough for a rack?

  • ^ not disc though

  • Gah. Those weren't the ones I was thinking of... keeps looking

  • Not bad looking I guess, but I think for me to really want to upgrade they would have to have proper rack mounts, otherwise i would probably see it as a bit of a downgrade in a way

  • Just a thought; My cousin is getting married in Croatia this summer, if i get this finished in time I could cycle there...

I'm Croatian and you need to do that! He's probably getting married somewhere on the coast and it would make a beautiful ride along the old coast rode, quite hilly though :)

  • She, but yes.

  • And the private island place, you know the name? www.palmizana.hr maybe?

  • No idea sorry mate, I just heard something about renting an island, but that could well be it yes.

Rim wise, i've been wondering about something like a Rigida Sputnik or Halo white line, anyone got any better ideas?

  • Budget?

  • well they come in at £40 a pair, i'd prefer not to top 80ish (quite a leap I know), id would much prefer them to be silver

  • I was going to say TB14's but possibly too much.

If you go the rigida route, Parker International seem to be about cheapest I can find.

  • spatr

look at the commuto x thread for details of the crabon disc forks with mudguard eyelets

  • Also does anyone even make a carbon disc fork with rack and mudguard mounts?

    I had this issue, there are few wallet friendly (and relatively light) forks in that criteria esp a non tapered steerer tube; in my opinion Kinesis DC37 are fugly unless painted but otherwise here are few options on top of my head;

    one
    two

There is another option; Poison Fork, cheap as chips just cant find a link, see DJ's commuto CX thread.

Eventually I went with Kinesis CXD which is tapered.

  • I would want them to have mudguard eyelets AND rack eyelets, I don't think thats a thing.

Also I saw dammit's Hope Twin V last night and combined with a conversation about how crap BB7 brakes are with SRAM levers I think i'm going to have to shoulder the extra expense and get them.

Rim wise i've been looking at Salsa Delgo 29er cross rims

I need to do some more reading on them though

  • Tokyo Fixed sellin the 36h one for a fiver each, dunno if they have any 32h one.

In the meantime, might be worth investing in some Problem Solver Travel Agent to get the brake to feel great.

  • I was looking at those a few weeks back. They look good :)

  • In silver?! I will try and go after work today for that price, i'm sure I can find 36h disc hubs.

also I'm not if its worth spending the money on the travel agents, by the time i've bought them and BB7's i may as well have just spent the extra 30 odd quid and get the twin V

I take it that's not online?? I'd want a couple for that price :/
