  • Near miss on the mini-yo. Had a bank errand to run before work and with all the road construction it was an obvious choice... After rounding a stop sign I decided to open up a sprint to make a green light... Shortly after standing off the pedals I started rocking/tilting/plaining feeling good. Up until the leading pedal struck the ground jerking me forward and slipping out of the toe strap. All in front of an intersection watching in amazement as came close to going over the bars. Lesson learned not to lean as much or carve as hard on such a short wheelbase.

  • Sounds like a narrow escape, glad you're okay

  • Wasn't in danger of hitting any cars just physical injury and a bruised ego... Out doing midnight parking lot laps. I'm kinda digging the 53/18 gear ratio... Don't know how well it will get on in the streets. Knees aren't screaming or anything

  • I much prefer black/dark wheels against the white frame rather then the shiny wheelset

  • Glad I bumped into the local fixie crew at Critical mass ride.. had a great after ride around town for the rest of the night. Much appreciated plate as they are fun to ride and be around... As well as make my legs hurt

  • Out flirting with the idea of a white saddle/bartape finish... Discovery of a new spot for after hours loitering

  • Tri-spoke is getting good use while in this sunny weather. I'm quickly reminded how crosswinds affect the handling whilst riding without hands... Came close to crossing over the white saddle/bartape concept... Construction is at a lull and bike lane has appeared after the dust settled. Yay!

  • Out to get more tucky tucky.. sporting my narrowest bar with the tiniest drop along side a long mtb stem slammed.. It feels more solid while sprinting albeit the weight penalty. Definitely less flex compared to my road stem/wide bars

  • As future has it, I may be picking up a tapered Cannondale fork to replace my stock fork on the vigorelli. My intention is to keep the original fork free of being sodomized by a front brake. It appears to be visually thinner at the legs and already has a shorter steer tube length allowing me to slam the stem further then it is currently.

  • Here's a couple pics from the seller... I'm hoping to dive into the fixed road category with brake hoods/front brake. More importantly is to learn how to utilize it to extend my distance goals.

  • The meetup is set later on today. Now committed to a road fixed with brakes for my Vig' flat carbon bars have been shifted over to a threaded stem. Full exposure of branding mandatory on seatpost to conform to hhsb ideals

  • Low key one of the most iconic threads on this forum, whether people realise or not.

  • I hope to bring light and inspiration to anyone visiting the thread. I appreciate the recognition and will continue to make changes to my bikes for better or worse... Super pleased with the mock up. Was initially thinking of spraying the fork matte black but the color has grown on me. All that's left is to install a compression plug and replace the bottom race.

  • Forks look good on it.
Which bars are these? Looks very 'pointy' and which road levers will you use?

  • Probably the tektro style ones that were mounted on the Allez because I've since swapped over the bars.

  • That looks like a surprisingly good hand position! I always really struggled to get a smooth transition from ramps to hoods with those levers without them pointing way up in the air. You've managed it there though, good effort.

  • I assure you it wasn't without a fair share of trial and error. The Allez frame has been a challenge to fit with a decent amount of seatpost in fear of looking "Pengy". It has since been swapped over to swept back alt bars with flat top levers.

  • Looks banging with the swept bars!

  • Thanks man, the goal is to mount mash rack and resume duties of picking up take out/7-eleven.. So much pleasure riding without a back pack.

  • Current situation is that the Cannondale fork has been fitted with a compression bolt... I've since dug out a cf fork with an aluminum steer tube from my parts stash.. it definitely not fitting as snug as the other fork. This is due to the design of the transitional contract area. Should I decide to run a standard 1.125 fork this would be the solution.https://www.amazon.ca/Ventura-Crown-Reducer-1-5-1-1-Headsets/dp/B0711D4LK6

  • Results are in, steering input feels tighter. Not sure if it's due to the drop or longer rake from fork or the possibility of a shorter/longer fork length from the head tube.. it noticeably feels low in a good way... My back will let me know if 10+ yrs of riding without a proper bike fit will allow it.. All my research has been collected via butt dyno

  • Scooped up some 3d printed dummy hoods from a yvr brother to try out before taking the plunge into fixed riding with brakes...

  • You would think that the hoods would encourage me to move forward gripping the bars. I was surprised that contrary to my expectations that my grip on the sides(not drops) moved back.. I presumed that the seat height would have to move down because of the extended reach. I'm digging the thumb hooks on the top of the hood it makes pistol gripping so comfortable.
