  • 2cm seems a lot to lower the post by in one go - will always feel weird doing it that way. I would drop it by 5mm increments, and nudge it back on the rails a little each time you lower it, then move it forward if necessary.

It's worth keeping in mind that bike fit isn't a magic equation - there are certain basic rules you apply, and after that it's a continual process of trial/error and minor adjustments as you body changes. Going to see a fitter will get you set up properly, but don't expect that to be a 'forever' fit - your body and position will change as your riding does.

I still have occasional days when I want my saddle just a touch further back, higher or further forward, or maybe angled down slightly if I'm riding aggresively - it really depends on the kind of riding I'm doing and how well I've been keeping up with stretching etc.

  • sorted then, dan will be doing the PR

  • Thanks Dan, that's useful info not just tell me to do something bu rather laying out the options.
    Have some rep.

  • Lol - thanks guys :)

    1000a - I think this is a great retainer-based business model opportunity :D

    Indra:
fwiw - your saddle was definitely too high before - you can see your hip rolling to help your extension. Get someone to ride behind you (or video yourself from behind on the rollers/turbo if you have them) and see if your hips are rolling around the saddle to help you reach the bottom of the pedal stroke..

  • I think that may have been me trying to keep my balance, will take a video to make sure though.

  • I agree with dan ( I taught him everything he knows ) I never adjust these things more than a couple of mm at a time.

  • I think the only person on the forum who hasn't offered bike fit advice to Indra is scherrit :-)

  • he's holding out for his dollar

  • I doubt it. He's just far too busy fitting people who come to him, to trawl the forum for new clients :)

  • I saw this bike for realz earlier and giving Indra and quick look up and down, the seatpost was scarily high, I'm taller and it sent shudders down me.

The temptation is always to yank the seatpost right up as it looks more pro but I' suggest after 60 miles at that height, you would be grateful for lowering it.

Looks tidy in the flesh though.

  • Thanks Joe.

I may have just gotten used to it being that high, will try and adjust slowly to it being lower.

  • Just sit on it in your kitchen

  • definitely needs to work on flexibility

  • On it.

  • Can you touch your toes?
As most others are saying, I think its flexibility.
Have you ever measured your arms. I have a feeling that you're a fraud of a TRex.

  • ive been doing yoga for about a month now.
and it already makes SO much difference.
    DO IT

  • Have you ever measured your arms. I have a feeling that you're a fraud of a TRex.

    #wentthere

  • i have been doing yoga for 8 or 9 years now, generally 2 or 3 classes a week though recently been doing even more (5 or 6) today I went to two different classes. can now stand on my hands, get my head past my knees while locking the knee joint out

when i cut down on my yoga practice, i can rapidly feel my flexibility reducing

  • ^ thats awesome. i definitely need to keep it up more regularly

  • The reducing flexibility has more to do with age than not going to yoga in your case James.

At least all that hard work paid off in the end.

  • Can you touch your toes?

The T-rex also has long legs so I could be one even if my arms were normal.

  • "my arse is sore as hell but I like it higher"

You're one step away from admitting you like it up the bloody arse.
