They're fantastic, going against the direction of redesigning ski bind, however they're notorious for requiring slightly more attention due to the mechanism on the shoes rather than on the pedals.
I was kinda kidding, they seem a bit more hassle and money than I have right now and the cleats are no better to walk in than road cleats apparently.
May be an option in the future though, my eyes are open. -

So this idea that wide platform road pedals provide better power transfer, is all in my head?
Nope but that's partly also due to a stiffer shoe.

Obviously... You need to look at the system as a whole.

It probably does give better power transfer but then again it could be in our head, like the illusion that higher pressure skinny tyres make you go faster.
I and my dad got the same Specialized S-Works shoes in the same size, mine's the MTB version and his a road, only difference is that i got extra rubber on it and a different drlling.
The pedals feel different but that all I can gather, like the clip in feel of ATAC and Shimano being different.

Shimano SPD clip in and out feels much more sure than ATAC and I'd imagine road would feel more locked in again.
-
• #57
What's the weight on that one?
5.7kg
-
• #58
Watch out Indra, the weight weenie monster is out to get you! Once you're hooked, you'll never be quite satisfied with your bike ever again.

• #59
It's a slippery slope...
-
• #60
You'll need to buy a Russell Hobbs scale for the full lfgss weight weenie look.
-
• #61
Building within UCI regulations of 6.8kg will stop you going mad... Weight weenies would still have a heart attack, but it makes good sense.

you must be the only person who thinks this

No, less float means they feel more locked in.

They do, unless you have the newer higher end model, says XT and above;
Buttery smooth.

• #67
I have XTs, still like ATACs more

• #68
The M780?
-
• #69
nah M770
-
• #70
M770 is an old design, pretty identical to the current budget version.

This thread is showing great potential ;-)

I had a pair of these on my Giant, they were awesome (in my memory):

• #74
Where's the pic of them on your weighing scales?
-

Dura Ace 9000 is available with a slightly extended axle... Massive win if you're anything around a size 11 or over.
