It's to top of saddle for that precise reason

Just had a thought: maybe all of us (myself included) internet bikefit experts should shut up and let him enjoy his new bike..
It's a lovely bike; ride the crap out of it and work out the fit as you go along.

Get a frame with a shorter toptube
I love to see you try.
Only one I can think of from the top of my head is the Cinelli Vigorelli, but even that still have a shorter headtube at 188mm instead of the massive 190mm of the Dolan.
The Precursa have a 180mm headtube.

Perfectly valid measurement. How on earth is it obscure?
Because it relies on crank arm length, which is subject to change

Pretty sure that's not how Current Projects threads work

Which Is precisely why I asked for pedal axle to saddle measurement.

which is subject to change
Is it likely to change before Indra can tell me?

all saddles are not equal.
exactly, for the prices measurement of the bikes saddle height shouldn't it be pedal axle to top of the saddle to eliminate any variables

No, you're thinking of Bike Porn. Or maybe you are thinking of the OTHER Seta thread - which was a mess..

This.

top is too vague - which 'top'? What happens when the saddle has a curved back like a Romin?

No, because if you measure your bike in the same manor, this way guarantees the best accuracy between the 2 measurements.

Measured from bb to top of saddle, following the line of the seat tube, eliminating the need to fuss about layback, it's just a straight line

how does a building affect the measurement?

Well, you wouldn't measure you bike in a shed would you?

Welcome to "The Official Free World Saddle Hight Measurement and Bike Fit" thread.

wow guys.
I realise the problem and it is me, I cannot find bikes that fit me without going custom and that's the end of it.
I didn't want to go custom yet because I'ms till growing and I'd need to sell, resale would not be very high as no one would want it, wheres I've got 3 people in line waiting to buy this when I sell it.I LOVE the bike and will experiment with different stems and stuff, I know I can get it comfy enough.
I am running 170mm cranks on this to get a little more leg extension.

Did not expect that many replies while I was cooking so if I haven't addressed your point just post it again.

Actually I thought toe overlap would be a problem, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue?
