i ride a relatively small bike for a tall guy. (6'2") and a pretty small mallet. I think changing anything on your bike or mallet is a good thing every so often. It freshens the game up, gives you a new challenge and extends your skill set. i love trying other people bikes and mallets in throw ins. Remember when you changed from fixed to freewheel and said to yourself. "whoa this is so much fun, its totally different." Every micro change, from discs to v's mallet length to thin tyres or fat does that. Mallet seems the most obvious next step, but what about all my little ones that i have outgrown?

Just thinking aloud here, but I reckon if you do all your shooting in a straight line facing goal on breakaways (a la Polosynthese) then a short mallet works well, because otherwise you strike the ground before the ball.
Conversely, if you shoot with your bike parallel to goal (mallet swing is perpendicular) then a longer mallet gives you more of a reach around, and the length becomes an advantage.
Just adjust where your holding the mallet? Drop your grip further down the mallet for closer shots and towards the end when further away, it's not unusual to move hand position in other mallet/racquet/stick holding games.
Probably depends if you shoot with your wrist/elbow or with your shoulder too and again, this can depend on ball position, angle etc.

Just adjust where your holding the mallet?
I tried that with a previous set up, but I think that having a fixed position works better for me. I also put old brake cable/cocktail sticks/biros under the grip so that the mallet is always in the same position. I hope (and kind of believe) that this helps to create a physical 'memory' of where the head is in relation to my hand.
Other people try my mallet and hate it though.

I play with a super long mallet, I'll measure it later. Upsides- make tackles players don't expect, easier to play on the left of the bike.
Downsides- light shaft, light head or it kills wrists, so I go through a lot of mallets. Shooting takes a while to get used to. -

Hurrah, seen the new polo trend before I've built up my new mallet.
Surely the list needs your height as well?

Those are heights. Since you left, London was hit by aliens with a shrinking ray.

And arm length and a height/saddle height/arm length/bar drop/mallet length ratio.
