  • !? What hubs? Replaceable freehub?

  • CheeseyBicycleParts™

  • Actually, wasn't too hard. Transponder is in the right position, but the number is partially obscured. Will have to do.

Just out of interest, does it matter if your number is obscured? What's the purpose aside from identifying people at the start (and for the woeful 'sportivephoto'/sportivefails pictures)?

As the Hippster points out, Zipps famous Camembert freehub body:

  • No elegant, but hey ho.

    My attempt:

In other news, CIF bathroom is good for de-greying your PC7

  • Dammit! Looks much better.

I'm going back to the drawing board.

I don't know. They've also given a (non mandatory) helmet sticker for the purpose of making photo identification easier. I'm not wearing it.

  • Ah, I thought you had to use all the stickers?

  • Possible to join the route at any point near the start? (not registered etc.)

  • ^ you dodgy, dodgy person!

I'm going to try and sneak on somewhere near the isle of dogs. I can't imagine it'll be that difficult to do. I'm going to try and get on the route before 6 and avoid the crowds/try and do a quickish time.

  • Reckon I'll try at 3-4 miles in, before it turns West.
Just to say, I won't eat any free food for those that oppose my participation x

  • Me neither! Plus I will make a charitable donation of some sort to assuage my guilt.

  • Just give me a tow when I come up behind you and all will be forgiven.

  • How did you do it? I was thinking of cutting the paper where the "Prudential" bit is, to allow for the PC7 mount to go through it, seems the simplest solution.

    In other news:

Time to take the mountain climbing cassette off and put the faster one on.

Very concerned now that my lowest gear is only 39-26, wishing I had a granny ring!

  • i am a pretty effective windbreak.
numberless black ridley oval, say hi!

Just give me a tow when I come up behind you and all will be forgiven.

  • So the mandatory frame sticker. Where should that go? Fork perhaps?

  • ^^ on 52-42 and 12-23 here. middleofnowhere is on fixed.
if I have to walk up anything, fuck it, I'll walk.

  • ^ If this is anything like L2B, it won't be just single speed and fixed gear riders walking up hills.

Might write the sweeper cut-off times on my arm for a laugh.

  • Where can you find these times?

  • I was thinking of cutting that little table out and putting it somewhere visible.
I feel like there is too much to remember.
I'm hoping it'll be alright on the night day

  • ^^ Final Instructions p9 for the expected timings, p10 for when diversions become optional, then mandatory, then the cut-offs.

I may do the same along with the route profile, I need a laminator!

  • I'm riding from blackheath to the O2 and through the blackwall tunnel.

Is this officially sanctioned? As in, I won't be flagged down and stopped if I do this?

It'd make more sense for me coming from Forest Hill I think.

  • Strike that question, further reading of the rules confirms it's fine

  • Only been able to look at the route on my phone, it looks like a mile and a half at 5% is the worst of it, followed by a shorter and shallower climb. Is that about right?
