  • Same here. She suspects positive discrimination.

  • Hmm, interesting. Colin Lynch (WC Para cyclist) is in an identical position. I suppose they must have received far more entries from men than women. Can't say I'm too disappointed mind, though we are now investigating the possibility of a tandem entry...

  • Doable on 80" fixed? Jess and I got in and I'm just weighing up the options.

  • The hills wouldn't be great fun with that gearing IMHO

  • what hills?

  • Would not fancy Leith Hill on that, but then I'm crap at hills. Go and try Leith and Box Hill if you're not sure.

  • Box Hill I imagine would be fine but it's Leith Hill I'm not sure about. I live in Bromsgrove so probably won't be able to make it down to check it out

  • Leith Hill is short, you can always walk. Depending on where you are in the crowd you might have to anyway, it gets all choked up with walkers and zigzaggers unless you're pretty early on.

  • What did you see last year?

  • Leith Hill is short, you can always walk. Depending on where you are in the crowd you might have to anyway, it gets all choked up with walkers and zigzaggers unless you're pretty early on.

It was pretty congested for me, and I was off just after 6am.

  • Nothing special. A bunch of cityboys in their fancy TeamSky apparel, some mad guys who thinks the roads are closed for their personal TT records and lady in her 50s riding mountain bike with flower basket and with flip-flops. I just cant see my weekend warrior ass in that crashfest.

BTW. My GF did and she said it was all good and dandy. Got a medal and a privilege to ride on closed street of babi london.

Another thing is a cost. Entry fee for ride 100 - I could donate to london classic, get myself to Italian Job & Great Escape, buy a new bartape, a pack of beer and still have a fiver in my pocket :)

  • And not be able to ride 100 miles of closed roads, which is rather the point.

  • Might be worth it then - I'll probably do it on 79" (50x17) to make the most of the flat bits.

I did 100km yesterday in the Cotswolds and had to bail once when the speed dropped <7kph, that was 76". Bit of weight loss and it should be fine, at my weight and 10-11kph it's about 2kg per 1.5" gear to maintain the same speed.

  • Ive just received a confirmation email saying im in. However the info that was posted out last week was posted to my old address. What was posted? Worth chasing?

Obviously if its the timing chip and stuff, I'll need to..

    How exciting.

  • Did not get through. Third year in a row. Much disappoint.

  • Rider number was on the letter. Could be worth chasing if that isn't in the emails? Other than that just a magazine and charity bits

  • Cheers.

My rider number is on this email now. I think I remember now. Just the magazine with the route, how to train, etc, etc??

  • Nothing on the route, bit annoying as I'd like to know what's coming up. Once you confirm and pay etc they say they'll send a pack nearer the event which has the route in it

  • Didn't get in.
    Charity place it is then...

But which charity? Will probably go small minimum fundraising amount so I don't have to pester folk too hard.

  • "We are extremely grateful that you decided to donate your entry fee to The London Marathon Charitable Trust and a limited edition Prudential RideLondon Roubaix long-sleeved cycling jersey will be sent to you as a thank you. You’ve made a truly generous gesture that will help The Trust continue to give money to recreational projects that will improve sport facilities throughout London’s boroughs and Surrey."

DAFUQ? I do not remember doing this. Looks like I've been mugged off. And all after I didn't get in for the third time!

  • Ha ha!
This happened to me last year.

The jersey is PONY an all.
    Gotsta read them small printzzzz

  • I got that too, but I'm pretty sure I didn't provide any card details...

  • 2015 route is here - https://goo.gl/Ne8FhT

  • RAGE. Unreasonably angry about this.

  • Ah their Twitter suggests it was a mistake: https://twitter.com/RideLondon/status/699264594884169728
