I'm wondering whether I'll melt in my waterproof, and whether it would be better to just accept getting wet.
Always the latter.

I'm confirmed as a volunteer. Got to be at the Olympic Park by 4.30 am. At least it forces me to cycle there.

Does look a bit damp.. and windy. Waterproof shell (with vents) & neoprene socks.
I think it'll be fun.
-
• #1030
I've accepted that I'll get wet. The question is, do I bother fitting my mudguards...?
Regardless of weather it should be fun. Closed roads!

I'm escorting a mate to the start line on Sunday around 7am hopefully I'll see some familiar faces (I'll be in fullskykitwanker mode)

(I'll be in fullskykitwanker mode) <
I'd expect nothing less.

• #1033
Is it wrong that it feels so right?
-
• #1034
yes Ho will be good to see you at the start!

It's beginning to look like the wind will be more of a problem then the wet.
Currently debating long sleeve vs short -
• #1036
I know we get mocked for this "what to wear" thing, but whatevs.
My current thinking is base-layer/short sleeve jersey/Nanoflex arm-warmers, gillet, short fingered gloves, standard bibs, shoes covers (maybe, I find in heavy rain they just fill up with water).
-
• #1037
Jersey. Bibs. Gloves. Considering a baselayer. Shoes.
I'm a little nervous today. Looking forward to spending an hour or so doing a service on the bike to calm a bit. -
• #1038
I'm taking the cranks off the CX bike and putting them back on the Time Machine, just in case it looks like the apocalypse tomorrow.

To do list...

Due to not being able to find my rain jacket anywhere, thinking of the following
Bib shorts
Giro Base Layer with pockets (the charity jersey has no pockets and I refuse to resort to a bum bag!)
Jersey
Arm Warmers
Overshoes (possibly)And an excuse to buy a new rain jacket, any suggestions?
-
• #1041
Bib shorts
Ss jersey
Arm and knee warmers
Stupid plastic bag effect jacket for standing in the pissing rain at the start
Full guards (cry)My experience with overshoes is that if it is properly raining they get soaked and then your feet get hot and wet. Might just go for wet but not hot feet....
-
• #1042
I guess overshoes are not easygoing take off and once wet your feet can't dry out!

Blackwall Tunnel is closed to vehicles but open to cyclists between 4 and 7am tomorrow. Sweeeet!

Looking like t-shirt and shorts weather
-
• #1045
If this trend continues
-
• #1046
What trend.. the forecast looks worse than never.
Rain all morning even before the start.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743?day=1I'm still planning to wear bibs and ss jersey but its the end and the start I'm worried about getting cold at.
Make sure if you have an official entry to make use of the bag drop facilities, they were very well run last year. Take warm stuff for before and after.

Just had an email from the organisers saying they may remove Leith and Box hill from the route if the weather is really bad.
-
• #1048
That would be utterly, utterly shit.
-
• #1049
shit and not sure how that would help.
The most dangerous section is the start exiting london when everyone is going at million kph and returning into london when your nackered. -
