Puss is still not well. When I came home he was decidedly poorly but has perked up a little now. Going back to the vets tomorrow and will probably get the results of blood tests. Worried that this won't have a positive outcome. :(

Pervert.
You, for taking the photo, not the cat....or maybe the cat is an exhibitionist?

cosy! Where did you get this hammock? Mine won't entertain the one I bought her, think it is too small, this looks a good size.

My cat Spirehouse has recently stopped eating and drinking, and is looking really thin. Took her to the vet's today, and she's going back in tomorrow for bloodwork. The vet talked about leukaemia, liver problems and suchlike. Fingers crossed it is all clear. :(

I've just volunteered to cat sit for a friend over the holidays as her arranged one cancelled at the last minute.
I live in a flatshare and there's already an obese, anti-social cat called Penny living here, so am a bit worried about how it will all go down. Both are trained house cats, Miles has been neutered and don't think he's ever met one of his own species. I've met him and he's super social/chilled and is a big hairy bastard who sometimes sports a bow tie.
What's the worst case scenario? Was thinking if they both freak out Miles can just stay in my room but hoping there's no dirty protests in the offing...

Worst case scenario is one of them beats the living shit out of the other and the wounds get infected, leading to death. Also maybe they'll knock a toaster into the sink or something while fighting and burn the house down with everyone in it. And one of them will start shitting in your bed, before it gets burned to ashes.
Follow this procedure and give them time as it will be stressful for both Penny and Miles: https://www.petfinder.com/cats/bringing-a-cat-home/cat-to-cat-introductions/

Oh good.
My flat's a shithole anyway, and Penny could use the exercise. I'd prefer my bed doesn't get shit on, but if it's getting burnt to ashes anyway...
thanks for the linkeee... am hoping their respective owners can take initiative on the socialising front. Soft music, dimmed lights, some catnip, maybe a little packet of Dreamies....

Just make sure that Miles has his own litter tray, in an area away from Pennies commode du gravel.
They'll be fine- probably just some epic, pointed ignoring.

Keep them apart, initially. Careful not to stress the cats out too much, new environment for one and an intruder in the other. Things like get the cats used to each others smell. One trick is to brush the one cat and then not clean the brush and brush the other cat, that way the smells mix.
Or get drugs from the vet to keep both cats stoned/high.

Introduce a third, weaker cat.
-
• #3373
I think I might be the weaker cat in this equation.
Left it to their respective owners to introduce them; currently there is a tense standoff with the native East-End Glaswegian cat blocading the pseudo-Finnish one under a bed and sitting in the doorway growling.
I don't see this ending well for anybody, but I'm already drinking the whisky I've been given for taking it on so I suppose it is too late to back out. It's strangely compelling viewing whatever the outcome will be.

Cat thunderdome....

Did you get another litter tray, or is Penny going to interdict any foreign access to "her" tray?
wheyyy!
Yeah mine go through phases of using the upstairs one, and then for a week or so they wont touch it and only go downstairs. I guess they like having a choice.
