we've had mixed results, the first batch showed him crossing the A40 a couple of times (which he blatently didnt) I think we need to experiment with the data sampling rate and MOC is working on a bit of software that will parse it a bit better.
As a control, I rode to work with it one day and it was pretty accurate - but then I was travelling at a 12mph average, rather than sitting on a garage roof staring at a tree for 3 hours. -

Does he get annoyed with it? It looks rather large? We did think about it for a while but then getting her highness to wear a collar with no bell or nothing is hard enough, let along a big box...

Just tie string to her tail.

Share the ideas. Two of ours are incapable of jumping on kitchen counters with grace anymore. It's more like..."oh look, high spot, I can see prey easily, go go gadget slinky body...yawp..uh oh...I've made a huge mistake...I WILL NOT GIVE IN...oh wait no, yes I'm giving in, I'll bring down everything on the kitchen counter to prove I was right, I'm a cat after all....aaaaand mission accomplished. HEY HUMAN, your stuff is all over the floor, you are stupid and I'm awesome...now feed me".
Think yours got your wrapped around their paws just right. I saw Patch walking very carefully on my desk so she doesn't knock anything onto the floor.
In terms of weight control, I will start by cutting down treats / food in general. Will still free feed her as my days could be a little unpredictable in terms of when do I get home etc. But will only give her an hour to finish off her wet food, which she never does, so the dry food could fill the gap, and all in all, she should get just the right amount. Currently she could finish 2 pouches and a big bowl of dry food...
I have instructed the boyfriend not to give her any milk, admittedly, we have been giving her pretty much daily, sometimes twice a day, coz we thought each other didn't. And that goes for the her favorite Webbox meat sticks.
Might actually use the laser pointer regularly, she has worked out the red light comes from me and seems to enjoy the chasing, so that so be a fair bit of work out. She hasn't been going out as much the last couple of weeks, possibly due to the weather, otherwise, she is out and about all day. Think he staying in more than often lately has contributed to the weight gain.
I used to live with a fat cat and no matter what was done, he just wasn't interested. So I don't know if there is anything one can really do other than putting them on a diet.

I honestly seriously thought about that too.

Anyone else's cat reach out and pat them to demand attention? My sister's cat won't jump up or make any noise, just pats you on the leg/ankle with an expectant look.

Her highness would rub against my legs or turn up out of nowhere and sit there looking at mewith the same look. But she also jumps on my laps on invitation only.

Can anyone feed my cats Wed 25, Thu 26 and Fri 27 Dec, in Rotherhithe
My plans have needed to change last minute, and I have 3 cats that are going to go hungry.
I can pay in beer tokens / negotiable bearer bonds / favours etc...

^ You have to post a picture of the cats so people know if they're cute enough to bother with. Them's the rules.
-
• #1036
^ that. on a serious note, how often do they need feeding? And what else do you want the person to do other than popping in to fill up the bowl.

Panic over - a neighbour has been pressganged into helping out.
Obviously you're all missing out on feeding three pretty awesome cats.
Except the one the bites.
And the one that runs away.
And the one that pisses everywhere.

Mine go mad if they don't get wet stuff at around 1800, it disappears in about 30 seconds.
This. I have to supervise proceedings or Moses will demolish his in 15 seconds and move straight on to Maia's which she eats at a more moderate rate. I don't give them much wet as they don't really need it, but they do love it as an addition to their dry food and I make sure it's none of that expensive but watery rubbish. -

Higgs is basically a furry beach ball, James and Tesla are both very lean.
I blame TW2

We had a visitor this evening, whilst the wolf was munching some biscuits and MOC and I were watching a particularly entertaining episode of Judge John Deed, I heard a strange little meow from outside the back door.
On further investigation I find mini blue cat from over the road(as he is known by us) rather wet, cold, covered in leaves and not keen on leaving the shelter of our awning, he let me pick him up and calm him down a bit, then he stood and meowed at the wolf on the inside looking out, I took him in to warm up and dry out whilst I got my shoes on. The wolf sat outside and looked unbothered.
The Swedes who live over the road from us were very pleased to have him back, (they didn't even realise he was out, and they don't have a catflap as they rent).
His name is Aramis - but he will always be mini blue cat to me.Interestingly he is the only cat I've found that the wolf seems to get on with, The Swedes said that they often see them hanging out together. I think it's more that Aramis is still a kitten and follows the Wolf around like a big brother, the Wolf seems to just tolerate him (he doesn't growl at him or attack him like I've seen him do with other cats)
The Swedes think that Aramis looks up to him. I didn't tell them that this probably meant he'd be teaching him to sleep on beds with wet fur, eat leftover shepherds pie from the kitchen worktop and attack the Christmas tree, but hey - it's nice to see him making friends instead of growling at them. -

^ Awww, that's adorable.
I find cat psychology fascinating. They're all so different.
It's so cute that you monitor him when you're away. He's a lucky boy to have found you both.

was toying with the idea of buying a cat tower for Christmas as another pressie to my other half, for the cats kinda thing - but I'm convinced the little feckers won't bother with it

I bought a similar one for her highness and she has only ever gone into the cubbyhole bit.

I always thought the cat tower would get overlooked so just bought the tallest fuck off scratch post I could find.
Surprisingly difficult to find a really tall one.

Tesla is well on her way to becoming a fatty too, her festive feasting is getting out of hand.

Agreed, I ended up building my own out of spare wood, old carpet, sewer pipe and sisal rope, its about 1.5 m tall - has a platform at the top and the wolf loves having a long stretch on it. Pic is a bit further up.
Can provide guidance if anyone wants to build one - the rope was actually the most expensive thing. -

Ahhhh wish is seen ur post before putting mine up. My scratch post looks midget compared to yours. I initially did try a bit of DIY. Got a piece of 3x3 and sisal rope off eBay and got gluing and wrapping then attempted to glue it to the top of the existing post. It did stay on for a while but she wouldn't use it possibly because of the glue smell/residue.

what glue did you use? I used PVA and it didn't bother him at all and gives out no smell. I have some sewer pipe left over in the garage I think if you want to try again.
I made a wooden brace that fitted inside each end so I had something to attach the bottom and top plate to. Once I'd attached the bottom plate I then ran silicon sealant around the bottom and filled the pipe up a bit with some sand I had around so it weighted the bottom, attached the top, then glued all the bits of old carpet in place with PVA.
How well does it work?
