    and spokey spokey, of course

  • those immaculately dressed rapha clad guys and girl (fenella) riding top spec bikes yesterday.. were stunned/speechless at our ability to ride on pub bikes fixed gear some without brakes.. meh

    Wut?

I was impressed by Hoke grinding up Canobie, and I guess I could have been impressed by a negotiation of the decent brakeless should I have actually seen anyone do it.

Indra did the brakless descent. His commentary, IIRC, was "... shit ..."

  • Language, bothwell!!

  • ^Its in quotes, so is acceptable, no?

Hey that's just because my lockring slipped, everything was under control until then :-)

  • ^ Euph?

yeah, on a superlight canyon track bike okay 85GI is pretty awesome, first gust of wind and Hoke might have ended up at biggin hill though..

  • it was classic! thanks to everyone.

  • Yeah I agree - 85 GI on a 20% incline was a good show. I was on 75" and let's just say I had a nice little jog up the hill...

  • But he had the extra aerodynamics granted by not one but TWO Aerospokes, so he was probably hardly even pushing on the pedals.

  • Red haired girl in the middle was next to me at the bar and misheard the bar staff say something about "being out of Guinness".

    She nearly exploded.

Hi red haired lady who's on here. I'm glad you got your Guinness :)

Yo! doppelkorn! I'm almost sure they ran out of Guinness last year so my fear/terror was completely unfounded. And I got many, many Guinness :)

  • But he had the extra aerodynamics granted by not one but TWO Aerospokes, so he was probably hardly even pushing on the pedals.

Did you weigh his backpack/hod carrier, those of us with withered arms in the aim of increasing our power to weight ratio could not even pick it.

  • Next year an outdoors screen and a couple of kegs of proper ale (are they a free house)?
    The Guinness was good.

Thanks to those that made it happen.
    It was a grand day.

Helps maintain grip, very important for hill climbs.
    Another advantage for HoKe!

  • I didn't mind meandering round forever alone, but i really wish i'd seen HoKe demolish the hills on track gearing!

  • But he had the extra aerodynamics granted by not one but TWO Aerospokes, so he was probably hardly even pushing on the pedals.

Yes! This is true, but we also need to consider how feather light they are, at a svelt 1.3kg each.

Puts his achievement into perspective, eh?

It wasn't even me that said it. It was that Indra. Trust him to not be thinking of the children, skidding about in public with his lockring half undone :(

  • Cross bike (front brake noise aside) performed very well, 40 psi served me well over the cobbles.

Grey boardman? If so sweet trackstands bro.

    Yup that's him

I didn't see you once! On road or in pub :(

    So irresponsible of me :p

  • Grey boardman? If so sweet trackstands bro.

Yep, Boardman- the one making the HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK! noise whenever I slowed down.

  • Oh that was you!

  • I bet you hardly noticed the noise, it was very quiet

  • I think you set it up to make that noise so no one noticed you'd robbed John Virgo's gloves.
