  • Sitting at work smiling whilst thinking about yesterday, and only slightly hungover as a bonus :)

  • How many of us did that?! I was in a group of about 15 who all kind of followed each other up the "wrong" ;) hill.

I think the sign for Fox Hill was pinched as it didn't seem to be signposted. I only went up it because a load of riders in front of me had actually checked the map and I spent a good 5 minutes looking around for the sign because I was sure they were going the wrong way. That hill is a giggle, though.

  • Who was on the pretty large TI fixed with American classic 420 wheels, bulls and a front brake?

Wanted to congratulate you on the awesomeness of it but was too tired.

  • i got sunburnt, i got drunk.

i had a lot of fun.

huge thanks to the organisers, i was very happy to find out it was my suggestion of fox hill in this thread that meant it got it included. :)

great to roll with smiff, jonny and corny and ace to see everyone else.

i've done all four of these now and will be back next year for more.

That would, I think, be vunugu. I first met (i.e. drooled at) that bike on last November's Cambridge ride.

  • ^
    Correct.
He and I exchanged a few words yesterday - one of the few forum members I recognised.

    Ah, it's bloody lovely!

  • With the Speed Metal jersey... if so, hello. I loved the jersey... will be checking out their site later.

Not me. I had a black/rainbow shutt jersey

  • Only just caught up with the roubaix itself (need an outdoor screen next year guys) and what a race!!

  • Not me. I had a black/rainbow shutt jersey

mmmm, more than one person with a beard.....

  • A couple of iPhone pics.

Just after making it up Canonbie ^

    About to descend it ^

After the ride at the Gipsy Hill tavern...

Creds for last pic goes to hats.

  • those immaculately dressed rapha clad guys and girl (fenella) riding top spec bikes yesterday.. were stunned/speechless at our ability to ride on pub bikes fixed gear some without brakes.. meh

  • ^^ I should totally quit my job and become a full time photographer.

  • Red haired girl in the middle was next to me at the bar and misheard the bar staff say something about "being out of Guinness".

    She nearly exploded.

Hi red haired lady who's on here. I'm glad you got your Guinness :)

    It's a good feeling.

Should see the other ones :)

  • ^^ That'd be Pootsmanuva. She's no alkie. Honest...

  • It's a good feeling
yeah, but didn't you feel in awe of their presence, being so close to shiny new rapha kit.. the look on their faces when i pulled on my manky pro jacket.. which has survived two winters of hard riding in the home counties and across the flemish wilderness

  • Really enjoyable day out. So glad I could make it along. Thanks to the organisers and all the volunteers who made it possible.
Such a perfect day for cycling, I've even got a bit of sunburn on my face. The cobbles and the little back roads were great, even more so because of the complete lack of traffic. It was really good to see some people I haven't seen in ages and everyone's company was great. Indra. Hoke and JD, it was a pleasure cycling with you. Massive props to Hoke for getting up those hills on 86 gear inches. I would have ground to a halt at the bottom of them without spinny gears.

Ah I always admired the name but sexistly assumed it was a bloke. You learn something new every day etc. etc.

  • ^^^^^^^^ 2nd picture, fella doing the dustman's blow onto his red-haired friend. I was standing at the top of Canonbie when you finished your second climb - I think, said something about second lap. Good work! I must have just left as the first pic was taken.. you were just behind me (not for long methinks).

That's Bernie, long standing member of the forum...

  • Yes, I heard someone call him Bernie.

    Hello Bernie.

  • ^^ Or "Dad", as I like to call him (he's not my dad).

Our group for the hill section really was cool, you provided great support for me mate, I'll definitely be looking at the floor for future challenging hills.

When we finished that first drink was so refreshing, thanks man.
A big thanks to HoKe who bought me a coke in the morning too!
