  • I'm happy to re-ride most of the route on Monday afternoon, to pick up any straggling signage there might be, if you think that would be any use at all...?

Yes, that'd be really helpful - will PM you - cheers.

  • Dusted off the magic TLC track chain ring last night to fit on the pub bike.. Lo and behold its shrunk from 46T to 44T. What a result, my prayers answered, it got me over canonbie and up the Muur in Flanders last year.. Baptised in Belgian beer..

It must be an age / winter relief feeling, yearning for springtime, I don't feel any slower just comfortable today. Praying to the weather gods for warm sunshine. So I can have epic ice cream at the farm and beer garden frites/burgers/ biers this weekend.

  • Looks like its gonna be a chilly morning, but a relatively warm afternoon..

    Awesome!

What GI will you be on?

I can deal with that :)

  • 44x18 what's that 66??. Result..

  • Nice!
Shit for skid patches but still nice and spinny, my daily is 65 GI, thinking of putting a 21t on the back for more spinning practise :)

  • Indra, You should come out to the Hertfordshire lanes with us in the summer.. I usually ride 48x18 as most of my in town riding is easy flat.. I'll look out for you at gypsy hill tavern need to set off at 9am, unless you fancy rolling there from mine at 8.15am.

  • That'd be really cool, I am looking to do some longer rides in the summer, I'd probably spin out with you if that were ok, especially considering you're only about a mile and half away from me.

    Really appreciate the invite.

  • Indra you have my number, see you on Sunday, to join up with the Ardennes crew for TLC :)

  • Sure thing man, see ya there.

    ^boom like Lars Boom.

Ardennes Liberators + allies. We roll deep*.

*or should that be we roll steep for Sunday

  • Are any of you guys doing any extra 'training' in preparation for TLC?
Or is it just a case of flexing your beer drinking muscles?

Indeed Si, we haz heavy artillery dropping in from north side..

  • Greetings folks,

Well not long to go now and the lovely Geraint Thomas has just taken time out from his training schedule to give an interview on the London Classic which he described as the 'the best spring classic of them all !!!'
Please check the following link for the full article

How nice of him to give such a great write up. Please look out for him and the Team Sky boys around the course.

I hope everything is going well for Team LFGSS in their final preparations...

Peace and Love to one and all,
    Tim

  • Haha!

  • Great article! :)

  • Right.... I've quite badly injured my back and can't take part on Sunday.

Anyone who wants my place, drop me a PM.

  • Ha ha caught on camera

  • Weather looks good for Sunday

  • Does that mean the man pictured above will not be wearing his snood?
He was a couple of weeks ago.

No training, but I'm seriously considering rocking gears in order that I can make more beer stops and still get round.

I fear them hills at the end and a few pints will result in the type of shameful walkage shown above.

As far as I see it I have four choices :

No gears, no beers and make it round
Gears, beers, and make it round
No gears, beers and probably end up on foot
Stay in the pub and drink all day

    There's logic here.

I only have the one bike so I'll be going single speed as long as I can survive and have breaks as and when. I suspect I'll be walking up the greater portion of the hills but I'm willing to deal with the shame.

  • I only have gears. I intend to drink. I won't make it up all the hills.

Acceptance is an important stepping stone, across the stream of disappointment, to the bank of happiness..

  • the last few days I've been thinking about heading out to canonbie and giving it a go (I've never even attempted it - I go around on the main road). and then I think "training? down with that sort of thing."
I might try and fail on sunday though... I'll see how I feel at the junction.

  • Even walking up Canonbie is pretty tough. I went to look at a house there a couple of years ago and my flatmate refused to consider it as she didn't think she could walk up the street.
