  • that's really nice. Good price too.

  • Very nice. Which photo would you say was closest to the actual colour?

  • That's going to look beautiful.

  • Thanks people, it's just as I wanted it.

First two are nearest to the actual colour, Bear, had a paying shoot coming into the studio and colour balance and lighting sort of went out of the window in the rush.....

Build pics on Tuesday after maiden voyage to work!

  • Amazed that was so cheap. Nice going.

  • That is nice. I didn't know you could still get frames built in 531 - was it some older stock tubing he had left over?

  • That is nice. I didn't know you could still get frames built in 531 - was it some older stock tubing he had left over?

Leftovers! He still has some left, but is out of Columbus Air which I need for forks for an 80s Gios. Stays are 525, apparently the modern(ish) 531 equivalent.

  • heh, le goff built me a pair of air forks from some rusty old tubes in the back of his lock up, must have been the last...

  • I'll be round to burgle your bike shed later.....

  • euphemism ahoy

  • Very, very nice. The polished bits are going to look mint on there. Can't wait to see fully built.

  • euphemism ahoy

Back with your chalfonts are we?

First two build disasters: nos Modolo hoods split if you look at them in a funny way, they're made of 30 year old rubber. Ordering pale blue bar tape before a frame arrives is a bad idea....

Gum hood and red tape on order!

  • an 80s Gios

    Lucky guy

  • Very nice. Which photo would you say was closest to the actual colour?

    ha

  • ^^Yes ncjlee, that one, the 1982 aerodynamic! Unfortunately; rusty, cable guides rusted out, no fork, no gear hanger.... Then there's the old Campag to get hold of.... Bit of a long term project, really, unless I rob a bank. By the time I can afford it I'll be too old to ride it, even if I were 25 I'd never have the style of de Vlaeminck!

  • I hope you don't have the same BB problems that Jingle Jangle had:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread86970.html

Warning - ridiculous NOS Campag content.

  • Stop trying to scare me! Got a bracket in it plus stem, Super Record front mech, wheels (GP4 on Campag Tipo), could switch the brake back from the bike this thread SHOULD be about (I've got the other brake). Still got to buy rear mech, seatpin & saddle, cranks plus of course the frame repairs.... Won't be much change from a grand for a bike I want but don't need!

  • So good! Excited to see this built up Colin

  • Glad you like the frame, Joss, you paid for most of it! How's my old Fort coming along? Got those wheels built yet?

  • Looking forward to seeing the Gios done. I've always wanted one of them or a Benotto M. 3000 since watching Sunday in Hell.

  • How are the stickers onthe cranks looking round 2? I'm very interested as meaning to strip and polish a set myself and don't want to lose the little shield...

  • Tried to seal the stickers on with clear lacquer after careful masking up, horrible fail, it made the ink run and then peeled off.... Attempt 2, 4 layers of clear nail varnish (thanks, Mrs Bald), gives a sort of lens-like effect. Build to be finished tomorrow if the red bike ribbon turns up, pics Wednesday. I'm a bit pleased with it.....

  • come on colin, this has to be added to my homage a goff

  • Almost. Picking them up this week hopefully

  • Are you able to get more stickers made? I could do with a couple of pairs!
