crazy why people spent so much money for dust caps like dura-ace or campa. especially as no one would use those in keirin or v-drome events.

After:
Starting with 130 paper going all the way to 2800 wetndry, then polishing, I am left with this result. 4 hours work and getting absolutely filthy, I'm really happy with it. It pretty much has a glass shine to it.
I did give filling the injection hole in the centre a go, but it's really deep into the carbon, so I've taken it down a little. It's currently filled with polish but once I've clean it out and filled it, with lacquer, you won't even know it's there.
Also made the edges very very smooth, plus removing all imperfections on the top and bottom of the saddle.

Looks sick, but isn't that going to be very slippery in jeans or lycra?

Surprisingly not!
I think these saddles bent the rules of science, they are both comfortable and gripping even when stripped and polished, I did roughly the same with my old SLR and it was perfect.

Looks awesome... Have you ever ridden something similar for 200km/5-6hour straight?

In all honesty max I've ever ridden on a stripped SLR is just over 3 hours and and it did hurt a little, but I think this was more to the fact that 3 hours on any saddle is quite a long time. I did have a Rolls saddle before, which after maybe 30 mins was real painful.

Admittedly my initial thought when I first heard about the stripped saddle was something along the line of jackass... Having seen the result however, wow!
I'd be very tempted to go for a stripped saddle for everyday rides, and swap for a padded saddle if and when applicable. It looks fantastic.

Thanks! It did take quite a bit of work to get it to that standard, here is how they usually look once stripped:
Not as pretty as mine, but still cool looking and light.

i use a stripped slr on my fast bike and have done for a long time, they're so comfy. i like the shininess of yours, however you will wince when you lean the bike up against a brick wall for the first time and the side of the saddle gets scratched.
T-slates, please PM me regarding that, having a major mix-up with payments and where they are going to!
I was searching through my workshop today and came across these NOS little things:

Don't think Keirin bikes had these, but may add them to my build, unless someone has more use for them than me?
