• I'll have 2 power meters for sale in a few weeks if anyone wants.

    P2M Rotor 3d plus 30mm axle 110bcd 50/34 praxis rings
Srm fsa gossamer 24mm axle 130bcd 53/34 praxis rings

Both well used but work good. Price no idea but open to offers.

  • I have just pre-ordered the infamous iQsquare pedal based powermeter. I have followed the whole kickstarter debacle.

A couple of recent hands on make them seem ok (may well not be representative of what a real life customer gets), and obviously no long term review.

Probably made a mistake, although looking forward to testing them in July, because iQsquare will definitely keep to their timeline.

  • If I just buy some new crank arms for a 24mm spindle they should fit, right?

As long as you get 3D/3D24 crank arms, yes. The newer Aldhu crank arms are incompatible.

  • That's good to know - however I think the crank arms sometimes come with a spindle included so that would solve that problem.

  • The Rotor 3D/3D24 ones will include the spindle if you buy both crank arms. The Aldhu ones usually won't, as the crank arms are universal and you just add them to whichever spindle you want.

  • If I could find a NDS 3D24 crank arm I would buy it. However I'm not having much luck on that front.

  • I am in the queue too; just viewing it as an unexpected surprise if it ever turns up. Currently 2 years late

  • I have a set of Rotor 3D24 on a P2Max S Type that’s been rock solid for 4-5 years. Recently I’ve noticed a bit of play in the cranks when soft pedalling, so have taken them off and reassembled. They seem fine again now, but how likely is it that the splines that connect the NDS crank arm to the DS is on it’s way out and will need replacing?

  • Pretty sure Favero said they were quarantined in Italy so they havent been able to produce any for a few months. I think they're back to it now.

  • Spam
    Prices will be good.

  • Noob questions but would it be possible to swap the rotor spider onto Quarq D Zero GXP crankset?

  • No - they have a different spline / spider interface

  • ta

  • I've put my Quarq up for sale here

  • I may need to replace my Rotor 3D24 P2Max S-Type, as the chainset looks to be on it's way out and it seems to be a good opportunity to upgrade the PM.

It's been rock solid, so I'm almost certainly going to buy another P2Max. Is there any reason to go for the NG over the NGECO? I'm not bothered by USB recharging and have a hefty supply of the batteries left, so am happy to go battery.

  • The NGeco is accurate to +/-2% rather than +/-1% for the NG. It doesn't have L/R balance (although on the NG it's not that accurate anyway since there's no independent measurement of each side anyway) and it doesn't give a figure for 'pedal smoothness', whatever that is, although the latter two are upgradeable if you want useless data. In short, no. If you're happy with replacing batteries rather than recharching, there's no appreciable benefit from the NG.

I have both. Can't really tell the difference between them frankly, other than the rechargeable battery.

Could be interested in the 3D24 power meter though...

  • Appreciate the reply and as I suspected.

I’ll let you know if and when I make the move (I’ve been given a tip on how to fix the chainset issue, so will try that first).

  • I was wondering how and in what regard the chainset was on its way out. Should be pretty much immortal apart from the rings.

  • I've got the NG on some Aldhu cranks. I like to know my L/R balance, but that's pretty much the only advantage. If you don't care about that or smoothness then go for the Eco, wouldn't bother paying the upgrade fee, better just to go with the full NG out the door.

  • What about the battery seal on the Ng Vs Ng eco? Is that the main hardware diff? Ng is usb rechargeable while Ng eco has coin battery under somewhat flimsy cover. Exactly what @skinny had problems with.

  • The covers are liable to fall off on both but IME both are watertight without the rubber covers.

  • I have an Ng eco and use it on the road no problems.had it mounted on the gravel rig for a while and twice managed to knock the cover off somehow. Luckily found it both times a few meters back. The pins that hold the cover snapping off is what messed up @skinny if I recall right. It's deffo the design's Achilles heel of an otherwise super reliable unit for me.

  • Do not buy ngego.

The clips that hold the battery cover on will snap at some point. It's a terribly design. And no it's not waterproof, I killed mine.

Ng is fine enough, the rubner cover just pushes on and could be taped over. No plastic clips to snap.

  • 500 euro better? That’s a hefty jump in price for a battery cover. Are you also saying it has issues with water ingress when the battery cover is secure?
