• I assume by your question any riding you'll be doing will be purely for fun? If so, and you think having your PM fitted will make your rides less fun, fuck it off. Look up and enjoy, instead of at your stem.

  • Take your power meter to 'Valley of the tears' and catalogue the suffering.

Personally I like bringing mine for such trips. I don't train as such but still like to use it as a pacing tool.

  • Ah, all good info.

It just occured to me - would front shifting be significantly affected if I get a Force 22 crankset and reuse the Sram rings with 6800 rather than going to Praxis rings? It'll be no issue to me just adding the Praxis rings to the P2M order...or is there a compatibility issue with P2M and the hidden fifth bolt?

  • These seemed liked a bargain and I wanted some tubs for cx, so I took the plunge:

This is my first foray into the power game. I look forward to getting confirmation of my puniness.

  • I look forward to getting confirmation of my puniness.

    Hah you aint puny

  • Puniness / kilogram then

  • blimey. That's a good deal.

  • I rang them up and double checked everything before I ordered because I couldn't believe the price.

  • Extra £500 if you want clincher?!

  • Ah, now it makes sense.

  • I thought of you when I saw that :)

  • tbf, im not a slave to the stem staring, but pacing and recording some data may be useful especially as I seem to be putting out some reasonable numbers atm

    @Smallfurry
Maybe i'll stick one or two days in for some serious number crunching :)

  • Are these the older G3? Still look a bonkers bargain

  • I Train to better enjoy my cycling travels.

My training partner goes on cycling travels to Train.

So I Guess it Depends which one you are.

But I'd still want the data for later. My shitty season which almost entirely Down to Gran Canaria. I did zero high intensity cycling over winter. Saw the sun for the first time in months. Got over excited. Then destroyed myself over the course of the week untill my TSB was below -100, and the tendons in my legs had started to tear. Shit like this needs logging. Not that I'll learn from it (I'm a pig headed twat).

Also. Some of the Climbs are pretty long. I find a Power meter handy to pace it. Even help remind you, you need to drink more etc.

Also, also. If you do hit 'valley of the tears' you'll definitely want a PM. I pushing 400+w trying not stop and topple over. Unfortunately thats not a Power Level I can hold. So topple I did.

The Climb from Puerto de Morgan to Pico de las neives is nearly 2000m, over 45km. It includes one of the nicest stretches of road I've ever climbed. The GC-605. A thin strip of silk like tarmac, that curls around the bright red rock face.

Thank you, usually its a couple of testing/ challenging days, a couple of training days and then whatever the body allows baring in mind I can rest when I come home :)

There looks to be enough challenging climbs without the need for a total meltdown.

  • The main roads follow the coast, and the Wind direction is very constant (and often strong). So if you plan it right, you can do a Nice 40kph flat ride without loads of effort.

I want to og back NeXT Feb. But the guys I'm travelling With prefer the idea of Majorca for pre season. Sounds a bit Nice but pricey to me.

  • Mallorca's great. @Cycliste and I do a week in Mallorca in November, and a week in the Canaries in April. I wouldn't say Mallorca's particularly pricey. I did see a few other people wearing Rapha stuff out there though.

  • Went to Mallorca this year for a week. Was nice and not pricey. Weather wasn't the best though. Might go a little later if I go this season.

  • The two guys I travel With want quality acomidation for decent sleep, and low altitude for best training intensity. In fact one even said he didnt want long Climbs, as the intensity would drop.

I just want to ride up all the big famous Mountains my heros rode up, munch pie washed Down With posh milky coffee, and photo my bike lent against altitude markers. Basically I like drama and Food.

  • That was @Chalfie picking the wrong week. What a dick.

  • @Bainbridge have a wank, it might make you less irritable.

  • Were you sharing rooms?

  • No. Thank fuck.

  • SRM PC8 head units aren't waterproof.

  • I saw that, LOLtastic. My PC7 has so far been waterproof, I might hang on to it.
