Yeah looks like it doesn't it. Booger.
They removed disable auto-zero in a firmware 'update'.
As before though I suspect I can bodge it to work by removing the head unit's ability to detect speed.
-
• #3778
Yeah. Force you to buy new one.
I don't think you can roll back the firmware either.
-
• #3779
The release notes say the auto-zero control was in their erroneously - which makes sense if you are using a PT with a freehub. Maybe the Product Manager just forgot track PTs exist?
Whatever it's all a bit of a mess.

Its impossible to know the right tactics untill the situation arises, and even then its a bit of a lottery.
One thing you can know is Your own Power profile/ characteristics. How good are you at holding a certain Power Level; How far below FTP do you need to ease to, in order to recover, how many times can you produce a short Power burst before you're empty.
For me this is what riding With Power is all about. And what can give you an edge over those without.
Just my MAMIL opinion though.

If you borrow a Joule headunit you can disable autozero in the hub (and it's stored in the hub)
-
• #3782
Ah that's interesting, thanks. This wasn't mentioned on the other forums that discuss this issue. That I found anyway.
Anyone have a joule I can borrow for a few minutes? :)
-
• #3783
I checked with Bob at Cyclepowermeters before actually giving it a go and it appeared to work fine for me (making sure autozero was off using a Joule, and then subsequently running a Garmin 500).
-
• #3784
Looks like the Joule 1.0 doesn't have this feature - a shame as its £50 from evans at the mo.
-
• #3785
And the Joule/Joule GPS works unsurprisingly well with the track PT. Weird user interface though.
-
• #3786
The interface is odd with the buttons, but I've stopped using the Garmin now as the Joule GPS is just better in every way: it works with the PT flawlessly, quicker start up time, nice big central number, mapping doesn't drop out at junctions etc.

I've had a similar thing I did terrible in a race, found the winners data on strava and my average was way higher. They were definitely lighter and more aero but it had to be more than that. Next week I purposely got on someones wheel who I knew was good at the race (it was palace) and copied what they did. They were way more smooth and consistent, pedaling as soon as they could out of corners where I would leave it later and jump on the pedals. I ended up having a way better race and got in the points!
Moving up the bunch is experience, sometimes you have to take a bit of wind going up the outsides or just move up through the gaps when they appear in the bunch. Main thing is to hold your position as if you don't your going backwards

If it's road racing all bets are off where power is concerned. Best to just compare your own efforts, eg. 30sec peak at the end of a race in a sprint, NP during a break, that kind of thing.

1st Gen and £600.
Guys a dreamer! -
• #3792
I ordered my P2m two weeks ago and it still hasn't been dispatched. I'm crying inside in anticipation.
-
• #3793
Have they missed the week they are supposed to ship it in?
Mine says dispatch week of the 16th (this week). I'll be very sad if it is not.

First P2M battery change doned.
Should have been loads easier. The ridiculously over built BB area on my frame meant needing to pull the cranks out. Plus I have no idea of how to safely remove the rubber bungs protecting the screws. I tried needle nose pliers and tore one. It seems gripping With Your finger Nails, and pulling till Your eyes water, is the only way. Managed to get the O-ring to sit nicely when replacing the cover though. Spent ages faffing With that the first time.
I've been carrying a spare battery in my jersey Pocket tool kit. I cant say I really fancy doing this by the side of the road. I may resort instead to chucking a New one in before a holiday, or each season start.

I've just received mine, and it was despatched in the week they said it would be, i.e. last week.
-
• #3796
No, it was always quoted as week of 16th like you. Do you know why they ship them out in batches like this?
-
• #3797
How far into the week did they despatch yours? Am wondering if I'll get to play this weekend.
-
• #3798
Added anticipation and excitement?

• #3799
Added constipation and excrement?

Despatched on Thursday, UPS guy delivered at midday today.
PC7 only work with SRM
You'll need 510/810 or 1000 garmins.
Older garmins don't have disable-auto zero in the firmware, so you're forced to buy new garmin!
