Don't even get me started on the user experience. Who designed the Garmin menu system, some disgruntled ex-Motorola developers?
-
• #2078
You're assuming it was designed at all. I think it was just thrown together by a dev and a project manager for a presentation and then they just thought "well, that will do.. "

I was using an old etrex unit over the weekend. similar era to my garmin 705, only even more shoddily thought out. press menu button to get the equivalent of right click on any screen (including sub menus), press again to actually get the main menu, which is what you want nine times out of ten. wtf?

I somehow ended up in the set rider weight menu and the* starting * value was 1157 kgs. Wtf? I think I'd still be sat here changing it if I could be fucking arsed.

Fair point.

Epic calories though.

It infuriates me that when you update a garmin it wipes all of your previous personal settings. Poor.

Hmm...8th season of using Garmin, still not annoyed by them. What am I doing wrong?
-

setting your expectations appropriately low. my 705 has never frustrated or disappointed me either, although all my brackets are reaching the end of their lifespan and the little lever bit seems to be snapping off (or has snapped off) on 4 of 7 bikes.

I think different models engender differing levels of frustration.
My 400 series forerunner made me want to hit it with a hammer, but my 910xt is very pleasant to use.
I used an 810 recently, and was soon reaching for the hammer again.

My 910xt is totally solid. But the OS is so illogical even after long ownership, I have to search ffor various settings. Why is HRM search under bike settings for example.

Where can I buy a drive-side end cap (and o-ring) for a powertap SL+.
Paligap aren't particularly helpful on this.

• #2090
Did you call them? They were fairly helpful when I rang them up.
-
• #2091
I can't find a number for them on their website. My internet is weak today.

Ta.
Now - does anyone have a Powertap wrench I can borrow?

Now - does anyone have a Powertap wrench I can borrow? You should own one if you're going to be using a PT. Just buy one with your spare cover..

Just starting to get to grips with TP and it's TSS numbers.
What do I do about stuff like track racing and training where I either don't carry a Garmin, or if I do I'm never wear a HR monitor as my 705 always detects other peoples and comes out with funny numbers (136bpm max last time I wore it!).

Make it up
That would be consistent with the rest of the methodology.
