• Training Peaks sets it automatically- I've tried to set it to something I think is more likely but it changes it back.

Do you know how to do this properly?

It's currently auto-set at 244 watts, hence the rather exciting TSS value in that report.

I don't think TP sets it automatically, I change mine at will and it works fine.

I might be your power meter that has the settings held incorrectly and overwrites TP everytime you submit a session.

I know that if I don't set my turbo trainer correctly (weight, ftp, etc), the information it uploads into TP overwrites anything stored in my personal TP settings.

    I hope this helps.

  • TP sends me an email every now and again saying "Well done! Your FTP has increased by 1 watt!".

I'm pretty sure that I've never set my FTP in SRMWin.

    I'll do some Googling.

  • Odd that it over-rides the 100 TSS for > 60mins rule is impossibru rule.

Not used Training Peaks online so don't have any advice.

    I've told him this already.

An IF > 1.00 for a 3hr ride is highly likely to mean an incorrect FTP rather than you've just taken a load of amphetamines to ride for 3hrs.

  • Fair enough. I guess the easiest way to sort it would be to do a proper FTP test as it should then auto-set the correct value.

Frustrating not to be able to just put a number in though.

Buys expensive kit and coaching.. doesn't test or set threshold power..

Go to your username, Account Settings, Zones tab, Threshold Notifications on the right, click OFF to stop it automatically calculating threshold.

The Threshold Power field is under the Power Zones tab in the same Zones screen.

  • Did you uncheck the Autocalculate option?

  • Turning off the threshold notifications stops it from auto-calculating FTP?

I cannot see an option for disabling auto-calculation.

  • Do you have a Threshold Notifications tab?

  • Yes

  • and what does it say underneath it?

  • Exactly that- from the wording it appeared to me to be talking about the notifications, not the calculation.

    I've set it to "off".

  • Can you now set the Threshold value?

  • I can.

  • But I was born with mad skillz.

  • Terms and Conditions apply.

  • Yes, but I could set it before- it just reverts to the autocalculated version.

Well, it did, lets see if turning off the notifications also stops that.

  • Click Apply and Ok.

  • I've done that, lets see if my total guess as to my FTP stays put this time.

  • I changed mine and logged in using a different browser and it stayed the same.

  • If yours doesn't, put it down to your we'll put it down to your anti-technology disease and quit now.

  • Ok, the notification thing may well have been it, I've recalculated the ride and TSS is now below 100/hour - i.e. possible:

  • < figjam

  • Just did my first FTP test. 235 watts.

    I am disapoint.

In the imortal words of Yazz......'the only way is up'

  • How did you do it SF- 20 min then *.95?

  • It was a complex warm up then 20mins.

I just got in from the gym. So I was pretty smashed by the time the 20mins started. Then went out 30-40 watts too high. Recovered in the middle. Then finished 50 watts too high again.

Not ideal. But doing a sufferfest session with my FTp set to 240 watts is a killer. So its probably not far off.

    Its a start.
