Thanks.

WKO 4 was released recently. I am yet to check it out. Fin.

Planning on bringing a Rival Stages back from ca. in December for tark & CX duties.
-
• #1080
I would think that an Ultegra 6700 Stages with the USE chainring might be a useful crankset for the track?
-
• #1081
Probably, but we have SRAM cranks on everything here except the folder and XC.
Tempted to bring an XT Stages back too for the XC rig. Then I'd almost certainly put XT cranks on the Stanton rather than SI SL. /csb
Would my pelvis implode if I mixed Ultegra 6700 DS with XT NDS on the folder?
-
• #1082
You'd certainly be well into "crossing the streams" territory.
Did you want that headset for the Stanton btw?
-
• #1083
Headset? Nah check the thread - the one you have is for monster 55OD head tubes, not the paltry 44OD ones on the Stanton (and possibly the Oak).
-
• #1084
Ah, didn't see that update.
So I have a headset that no one, anywhere in the world, can possibly use?
-
• #1085
Well there must be an application for those headtubes. I suspect it's downhill / freeride. It's pretty close to Cannondale's propriety Headshock OD too.
Ask / Beg hope or LBS to exchange it for you? Or post on STW?

December 10th release actually. Shows how much you care!

Just ordered a P2M and some Rotor OEM cranks to throw into the power meter mix...
-
• #1088
was going to do this as well. please let us know how you get along
-
• #1089
Me too...I was going to wait for the new P2M next year though.
-
• #1090
Yeah, I'll be getting one of them too based upon the current plan. It's a long story. And quite dull. Bit it features lots of power meters. I'm up to 5 now, 6 if you include the Powercal.

I tried, and failed, to pick up a Stages Rival powermeter in Austin this week. Next time.
-
• #1092
Rival and XT stages ordered for pick up in Canada. They have a 4-5 week lead time at the moment so it might not happen. If you want one, be prepared to wait.

Ownership of 6 powermeters does not sound dull.
Any reason for not waiting for the realease of the new P2M?
I'm in 2 minds. I dont need* the PM before April I guess. But I also dont need any flash features at extra cost......
Funny story (not really). But Mrs Smallfurry requested a xmas list. I sent a list of small rapha bits that would make good gifts from others, and a pic of a P2M spider. On Saturday, our Anniversary, a printed pic of said P2M fell out of my card. There was a little devil furry sitting on my shoulder. Begging me to casually say cheers and wack 750 euro on the credit card.

Desire for instant gratification.
Basically, I've decided the Dentist's Chair needs crank-based power meters, as otherwise I'll never use my Zipp wheels but will use my crabbon-fiber-rimmed Powertap wheels all the time with it. So I've bought some Rotor 3d+ cranks on the cheap (JE James are doing the OEM-branded versions in compact size for 200 quid) and the current Power2Max setup.
However, another bike will hopefully be appearing in my life in the not too distant future (the 2nd Best Bike (UK)). Once that's finished (may take a while as I'll be making the frame myself) then the P2M Rotor cranks will go on that, and I'll get some of the FSA K-Force P2M S cranks for the Dentist's Chair. I'm confident 2nd Best Bike (UK) will not be ready before P2M have both released the S model and sorted out any early gremlins. Possibly not before hell freezes over either.
See, told you it was boring!

What is the reasoning behind the K-Force over the 3D+?
-
• #1096
Not boring but confusing.

Subjective aesthetic preferences. And it's lighter - 633g with current sensor for the K-Force, 679g for the Rotor 3D+. But basically because I prefer the K-Forces.
Not boring but confusing.
Don't look for sense, reason or logic. Just Believe.

I'm not overly worried about power data above that my powercal guesses at. For all my bikes. It has the plus that I use it for everying. So at least my data is consistantly out. On the fixed and SS, I dont have an awful lot to consider other than total output over a decent period of time. So powercal'll be fine.
The BMC need moar things though.....
A big part of wanting the newer version is that I want to continue aero Q-rings. I dontr particulary want to have to go through a warranty claim, and have to explain dremeling the battery compartment.

• #1099
Yeah, I've got a PowerCal for using on my non-power-meter bikes. However, since the power-meter equipped bikes will soon include:
- TT bike
- Main UK road bike
- Main Swiss road bike
- 29er
- Track bike
that doesn't leave all that much scope for using the PowerCal! Apart from on the road fixed, Hetchins, Croix de Fer, Brompton and the rest.
- TT bike

I ordered a power2max a few weeks ago, should arrive this week
I think that there might be a calibration issue with Vector- you are meant to backpedal a few times in order to demonstrate to the system what a no-load situation is (with a freewheel).
But I would imagine that that could be overcome.
P2M need to make a software change so that the meter doesn't continually set the zero-offset during the ride as it currently does, which is unfortunate.
I think Stages would be a good shout for fixed to be honest- I'd take a Powertap first, then Stages, then SRM- with maybe Vector if the calibration thing could be answered.
