  • I'd like to see G given the freedom to bomb on today, I could see it being good for him. Fuck Froome, G finished second last time there was a cobbled stage if memory serves me, let him go for it.

  • So it'll still be a thrilling afternoon of Flanders bukkake then...

Yup. And still the chance for massive gaps.

Who was that other guy who did really well on the cobbles this season? I can't quite remember his name...

  • Terpstra.

  • Yeah I know he's not exactly Classic material, but with the absense of Stanners he's the best they've got. Froome will crumble under the weakness of his own wrist, so they may as well get something out of the race, even if it's just G tailing someone to the finish.

EDIT - Sorry, I assumed that was a sarcastic comment, apologies if you were genuinely asking about Nikki Terpstra!

  • 5 and 7 out apparently!

    still not confirmed by ASO

  • @inrng 19m
Cobbled sectors 5 and 7 will not be used today reports @LaurentBruwier

  • who does not work for ASO

  • Sky won't be aiming to do anything other than get Froome through this in one piece, relatively close to the main GC contenders.

    For everything else, there's Cancellara...

No, you were right. Entirely sarcastic.

I think today is one of the reasons Froome probably didn't want Wiggins in the race. He would have very likely come out of it ahead of Froome (and potentially in yellow). This would have been, as the kids say, hawkward.

  • Cancellara can win for all I care... As long as Boom & Vanmarcke tow Mollema all the way to the finish line with a 5 minute lead over the other GC contenders ;-)

    edit, apparently it's official now, 7 & 5 out :-(

That would have been great. Oh well, will have to settle for the Fab show.

  • So... GC guys couldn't get an agreement on neutralizing. So instead they go to ASO and complain about safety? Am I too cynical?

It's less than 20k of pave, if I'm not mistaken. How much has been cut out? (The Tour web page has gone down - probably people trying to find out what's going on).

dave buysford has paid for doomfrog's success again...

  • ASO, like FIFA, like UCI...

  • Which means, I think, that there is still 13 kms of wet cobbles.

Does that include London's roads they've already done?

  • Did Brailsford manage to find the replacement part number for Froome's wrist in time?

  • C'est officiel: http://www.letour.fr/le-tour/2014/us/live/aso/

I wonder how much that cost Team Sky

  • Did Brailsford manage to find the replacement part number for Froome's wrist in time?

I hear they borrowed some bits from the electric motor on Fab's bike.

  • Shudders at the memory

  • would lul if Froomes at the start on a full sus MTB. Probably what his wrist requires : /

  • Oxford Street looks drier than usual. Have they improved the drains?

I've got money on G coming down today, the poor lad can't keep upright on his bike for an entire race.

  • Speaking of frequent flyer miles, has nobody remarked on the deployment of the Schleck-chute before stage 4?

The humour of laughing at a much-faded doper is starting to be tempered by sympathy... actually hoping he'll win something at the Vuelta just to get the monkey off his back.
