Final decal arrived from Hlloyd today (Nick is an absolute star), applied and clearcoated without any issues.
Brake has been wired up and original campy track ring fitted, running a ratio of 50:19
(too many hills in greenwich)Not sure about the bar stem combo - its steeeeep.
Anyway photos are imminent.... -

Pearl and Bontrager spotterbars would rock it ;d
But I see u want some more classic. -
• #109
What brake lever is that by the way?
-
• #110

Laurence the brake lever is a cheapy acor one I found online- I like how simple it looks compared to a bmx one.

Go for deda piega 26mm over the Bontrager Ssr vrc
Like spatr bars (i have both) but about 1cm deeper so looks a little better IMO

what about Criteriums?
and that was a bargain!
-
• #115
Yeah I was so pleased! I only put a £10 on it then forgot and got a message saying I'd won it for a fiver :)
oo criteriums would be nice, and hopefully slightly cheaper?
-
• #116
criteriums got this nice tracky bend to them without being too deep either
nice bars, can be had for chips too -
• #117
let the search commence!
-
• #118
Those wheels are lovely... good choice and nice work on the whole build!

argh bit of a set back! looks like the previous owners botched 'massive-hex-bolt' seat clamp method has ruined the seat clamp.
So now repaint is definitely on the cards (due to repair) I need to decide on colour, I seem to change my mind on it everyday!
Got the BB tapped and faced, fitted the GXP BB and OManoms annnnnnnnd
THEY DONT FIT! Seeing as I just had it painted I dont want to get someone to dent the chainstay for me so it looks like I need a change of cranks..
Fuuuuuuuuuck the 111mm bb is too short to fit the cranks due to the fact that the chain stays have not dent in them to allow for the spider....grr
turns out warhammer varnish melts the fuck out of decals!? who'd have thought it
Cue lots of swearing and re-ordering from swinnerton and Hlloydanother £15 down the pan.....
Just read this thread for the first time. I enjoy the outrageously positive mental attitude every bit as much as the bike.
Classic DIY bike building: always looks simple, rarely is. I mean, a track bike has, what, about ten significant parts? Yet trying to get all ten to match each other and fit remains remarkably tricky.
Nuff respek for the way you're going about it. The bike will be well worth it. And yes, how about a lanky bikes ride?

Thanks chris, massive love for your colnago btw. Paintjob looks epic.
Diamond this has been one long list of setbacks I am glad you enjoyed my arduous journey :)

You have three options I think.
Get the originals (26.4mm) and that means getting a Cinelli 26.4mm stem separately too
PM JD who was selling a stem/bar combo this morning at the LMNH jumble
Get the reissues (but more expensive)
how about a lanky bikes ride?
-
• #122
Apollo you're the lynchpin of the lanky bikes ride mate!
Reckon I'll send JD a pm...
-
• #123
Looks great, to keep it classy why not some Cinelli Grio D'italia and an XA stem?
The bars are sort of in between road bars and track bars, little wider on the top than track bars but traditional bend looks awesome from the side.
(I haz in mint condition...)

What did you use for non-melting clearcoat in the end?
-
• #125
Cheers TM but I've decided to message JD about his combo :)
Tommmm I used Hycote paint on lacquer over the decals- need to use a plastic spreader to avoid brush marks though
Not much action on this for a while, clearcoated the decals and fitted the original campy chainring to the pistas.
Today got hold of a lovely set of wheels from Pia, Campy record pista hubs laced to mavic ma40 in almost perfect condition- I think they really suit the bike
