initially BBC radio was reporting it as wiggo colliding with the van, it's never the other way round is it…
It's like reporting someone getting beaten up as colliding with someone's fist.

Also glad to see the BBC is reporting that the driver is not injured ...

Sky news reports that 8 police cars were on the scene within minutes - when was the last time a cyclist got that sort of treatment?

Strange for some to claim he was riding a mtb and going to meet local friends for a spin, and the CTC article to say he was:
"....on a Team Sky training ride at the time, including an escorting motor vehicle."

This thread is in the Rider Down forum. Whilst this specific incident involves someone famous, the Rider Down forum has an established tone of respect and no speculation on blame. The posts which engaged in disrespect, jokes, and speculation have been removed. This is true of all threads within this one forum even though the temptation to crack a joke is high in this case and thankfully Wiggins is going to be fine.
Thanks Velocio, I'm been back through the thread and deleted every post which have been unacceptable in any other rider down thread. Please keep this on topic with well wishing and stop posting 3rd party conjecture, idle speculation or distasteful jokes.
Hope this morning sees you in high spirits Mr Wiggins.

White Van Man runs over my hero. I am fucking spitting feathers. I am going to have some attitude on today. Not a smiling buddha.
<<< I have a sound alibi!
Pleased to hear it's not too serious but it still sounds nasty and painful. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

GWS Bradley!

Could have been worse but bust ribs hurt like hell. Bust mine on London Bridge and it really hurt whenever I coughed or did other straining activities.

Sun has phone picture of aftermath and silly headline
BTW.. Brads Twitter account seems to have disappeared.

'Heal up rider, whoever you are.' was deleted.
Not exactly 'disrespectful' but heyho, whatever, the po-faced will always have their way round here.

It was a joke at the expense of a downed rider.
It was also not the only post you made which was deleted. -

Police confirmed Wiggins had suffered broken ribs and a wrist injury and said the woman driver would be spoken to by officers later today, but that “no arrests are going to be made”.
The end.

Look like the SMIDSY work.

We're stuffed if even Bradley doesn't get the protection of the law.

I did like the comment from the AA in the Guardian article, which I think struck a good balance:
The AA's president Edmund King said: "This collision should act as a reminder to all drivers that we need to be more vigilant particularly when pulling out of entrances and turning at junctions.
"With autumnal weather and darker evenings it is essential to check and double-check for cyclists, pedestrians and indeed other road users before pulling out. We need to break down the 'two-tribe' mentality on the roads and co-exist in harmony." -

Refreshing common sense from Mr King, given his earlier remarks about segregating cyclists.

Christ, the BBC news LIVE COVERAGE FROM THE SCENE!!!! was woeful.. A windswept reporter outside a generic A road petrol station pointing at a random broken wing mirror on the grass (not involved with the Wiggins accident)..
Cutting edge reportage..

^ I agree.
Having worked as a cameraman for local news oop north, sometimes you were driving to a non-story and you knew there was sod all to report.
I really hate the Jeremy Vine type of reporting that seems so relevant on our screens. Ask a question - hear the reply - and then repeat the reply to the person being interviewed. Sometimes after that, the reporter will then tell the entire story again to the camera.
Sad as...
ps. The reporter was also standing in a position to obscure the traffic if anyone was turning into the service station.

Apparently Sutton has been knocked off too, hospitalised, it's on the SSN ticker. Wtf going on out there at the mo? Best wishes to both Shane & Bradley.

The sky news report on the Sun website identifies the wing mirror as coming from the Astra in the crash. It also tells us Brad had lights on his bike and wearing a helmet and hi-vis. They then cut to Brad's unfortunate comments after the fatal crash in August.
We just did a soundbite at LMNH for tonight's sky news but it may get overwritten by news about Shane.
^Cyclingnews still is.
