I did the same mistake and tried to kiss it.
turned out to be a piercing, yuck! who would kiss that -
• #28
well, that's put them off good and proper, all that talk of nasal hair...
-

looking forward to this. I know it's a bit far off for accurate weather reoprts, but BBC & Metcheck are both showing a nice day on sunday :-)

Indeedy - fresh and bright, no risk of ice on the roads.

Also really looking forward to this - though knees are a bit grumbly, so may resort to gears if they're still sore on Sunday.
-
• #32
I may bring gears simply because I've not had a chance to give my Dave Lloyd a proper try out since I built it up earlier this year.
I've had enquiries about meeting up at High Beech. Is it reasonable to think we might be there by 10.30?

The link above will take you to a rough and ready pdf of a route. If anyone fancies having a look and letting me know if there are any howlers in there, I'd be grateful!

Why do you want to do Orient Way? It's shit. Much better/quicker to go along Leyton High Road and Leyton Green Road to get to Lea Bridge Road.

The simple answers is that we went that way last year. I don't remember any problems - or, for that matter, any traffic along there. Has it changed horribly?

Have a fun day! And go to the Empress when you get to Cambridge and see the micro pigs.- Ludd

No, not really. I'm rather predisposed against it because it's a pretty destructive by-pass. It's also a detour on the way to Cambridge.

oh, OK, that's understandable

Can't wait. Doing it fixed. Have grumbly knees too, and a strain in my left forearm, so I will be taking this very steady and chilled.

^^^^^ @ludd
it's less than 15 miles so i reckon if we leave at 9am (9.15 lfg meantime) we should be there about 10.15-ishi was also considering meeting yous at high beech but I'd have to get there early - just in case you turned up before expected and then I'd be hanging around for ages - hate doing that

Thanks Ian. I'm not sure how many "not on here" folk might try to join us. A couple might join at the start, while others are discussing intercepting us at High Beech at about 10.15 or Roydon at 11.
I'm being offered all sorts of alternative routes, but I'm inclined to stick to the one I've posted in case anyone is expecting me to show leadership at any point! I'm also not inclined to stop and wait at rendezvous points, although our interplanetary sphincter friend has booked a text message for an RV at Much Hadham, where he will have been drinking fermented grain infusions pending our arrival.

I have nasty norovirus, so doubt I can make this. Realise I never actually put my name on the list anyway.

Get better soon Mashton.
Looks like we're getting the nicer weather this weekend (fingers and toes crossed).
Question: Cheese and pickle or Cheese, ham and pickle ... decisions, decisions...
-
• #48
Oh no, you can't have ham, cheese and pickle, surely? Decadence!
Weather in SE London looks magic - dark grey skies and steady rain - so tomorrow's bright sunshine will be just what we need.

Trains back leave Cambridge at 32 mins past the hour (1h12m back to Lpool Street) and 51 mins past (1h36m unless you change at Bish Stortford to save 12 mins).
Fares seem to be £14.70 but Groupsave will halve that for groups of 4 doing the whole journey together.
Which reminds me, I'd better bring my specs this time. And yes, there was fog, wasn't there? Slightly OT, when you turned up at the polo court, I mistook your nose piercing as dew-laden nasal hair... I hope I didn't seem unfriendly as a result of that misunderstanding!
